Myself and my partner brought our Chocolate Labrador Maggie in this morning for a consultation with Rachael and were greeted by Sonya on reception. We have used Abbey Vets Durham for over 13 years and have always found them to be the best and the staff great, however on todays visit both Rachael and Sonya went above and beyond. What a ray of sunshine Sonya is. Full of smiles and the best welcome. So interested in us and Maggie, we felt like we had known her for years. She really made our visit relaxed and enjoyable for both us and Maggie too. That's how customer service should be done and Sonya is a credit to Abbey Vets, thank you Sonya. I was so lovely to chat to you and maybe see you in Dubai. Next was Rachael, she blew us away with her passion, knowledge, explanation and care for Maggie. She is the female version of Noel Fitzpatrick! She gave us so many options about Maggies restricted movement and really took her time to explain to us both. Both myself and my partner turned to each other when she popped out of the room and said wow she's amazing at the same time. What a visit, what an experience and both Sonya and Rachael deserve special recongnition from senior management for their exceptional skills and manners when dealing with customers. If only service could be like this everywhere! I know a lot of people take the time to complain, but I really wanted to take the time to say a massive well done and thank you.
Would highly recommend this practice great staff. We felt like our pet was the most important kitten. Vet was vey caring and was helpful, answering all our questions and giving great advise
Absolutely appalling practice. I'm the spokesperson for Save Our Bully's. A campaign to raise awareness on Breed Specific Legislation and challenge the discrimination shown towards bull breeds. Plus challenge the UK government on uk American XL Bully Ban. We have a spay and neuter fund to help XL Bully owners pay for their surgery to spay and neuter their dogs as part of the conditions of exemption. I called yesterday to pay a donation towards neutering costs for an owner getting her dog neutered here. Receptionist would not take payment and advised the practice manager was going to contact the owner after making a decision on this. The owner reached out to me later to say Abbey Vets will NOT accept our donation to help pay towards the neutering because we aren't a " registered charity ". As she's struggling to get funds together for it so Our donation was going to help greatly she was incredibly disappointed. What type of vet practice refuses to take a donation to help an owner and their dog ? This one!! Owner is very distressed and is currently looking for another vets to register her dog with. Petty and spiteful behaviour from Abbey vets. The owner is also physically and mentally disabled she has told me. She chose this vets as closest to her so easier with her disabilities. What if someone has a friend or family member call to donate to a customer's pet's bill? Will that be refused too ? As not a " registered charity ". This vet practice has shown a complete lack of empathy for their client with their dog being neutered and shown total disregard plus disrespect to a campaign made up with people who are working relentlessly to support owners and their dogs during these very difficult times. We are in a cost of living crisis aswell as the added financial and emotional burden of now owning a banned breed. Many people through no fault of their own are facing hardships and doing their very best to care for their pets. Even when help is offered financially to ease the burden Abbey Vets refused the donation. Disgraceful.
This is for your practices appealing behaviour in refusing a £50 donation, towards one of the XL Bullys that was registered with your practice, and was due to have a neuter/spay. Disgraceful. Reason given that it wasn’t from a registered charity, really? What if it was a relative helping cover costs, would it have been refused too? I have no words.
Been with Abbey Vets for many years. Always helpful. Vets nurses and reception staff are great.
I arrived with my 10 year old shitzu Cross girl feeling very distressed after a weekend of great concern over her odd behaviour and apparent discomfort. My appointment was the first one with Abbey Vets and I was given plenty of time to express my concerns and observations to the Clinician. She was very attentive to my dog and thorough in her examination. I was relieved that her overall diagnosis was in line with my assumptions and I was given the medication I had previously had without hesitation. Additionally I was alerted to the fact that she might have some pain and made aware of how to watch for signs of deterioration in her generally. In short I left the Practice with a sense of relief and a much calmer pet as a direct result of my relaxing after our visit. It is good to know I have someone who can quickly and effectively deduce any ailments she has in the future.
Abbey Vets provides an excellent and friendly service. My cat has never been so well looked after! The vet listens well and takes the time to understand her complex medical needs and to fully explore and explain treatment options. The reception staff are also really welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend Abbey Vets.
Massive thankyou to Zoe on reception, she was amazing during my visit with my belgian malinois Ozzi. He gets overly excited around other dogs and ended up barking and jumping around. The vet was really nervous and cautious around Ozzi incase he was to bite, however Zoe was so friendly towards my dog and kept us both calm. The vet being so nervous around my boy put me on edge a little and seemed to make my dog a little nervous too. I cant thank or praise her enough for the support she gave us during our visit. 10/10 to this lady, she was a star!
We've been with Abbey Vets for over 30 years and have always been impressed with their compassion, care and sensitivity towards us and our pets. Yesterday was no different and Rachel took a great deal of time and trouble calmly to explain our options without trying in any way to influence our decision and then carried out our wishes in a very kind and considerate way when we had to say farewell to our 24 year old cat. We are most grateful.
A very welcoming vet where they take special consideration of any requirements. The staff are always very pleasant and treatment is well explained and the cost is discussed prior to any treatment being carried out. I would highly recommend this vet practice and would not consider attending any others.
