Not into boring museums but this one was quite quirky and unique. A little street with dressed-up windows and little rooms you can get into. £14 for adult and 2 kids over 5.
This museum is fantastic. Downstairs they've built a Victorian street with shops you can wander around, with so many little details to see. There's a dress up shop, too!nUpstairs, there are several galleries with old toys and even old game machines that you can play with old pennies, so bring some coins to exchange!nLots of fun, so much hands on stuff, several play areas for children, overall a brilliant museum well worth the small entry price.
such a cute little well actually it’s bigger than we thought museum. the medieval street is absolutely fantastic and yes you can go inside the stores!, annnnd the best part - you can dress up! we had so much fun! Lots of unique item & toy selections, it seriously blow our mind! definitely take some coins! I don’t want to give anything away, just make sure you pay them a visit. we visited over easter & they even had a bunny trail for little ones. staff is super engaged & patient especially with people dressing up!
We travelled from South Manchester after reading a news article about Abbey House Museum and how they wanted to get more people to visit. It was easy, free parking and there was no queue at the entrance. The welcome was genuinely friendly and both greeters were informative. The Victorian street was interesting and we enjoyed the displays of books, toys and games through the ages. I would definitely recommend a visit.
Wonderful museum, which has been a favourite since childhood.nThe ground floor is laid out as a victorian street scene and is fascinating to browse around.nUpstairs there is currently a vintage toy exhibition with many things to keep children interested, including old slot machines.nWell worth a visit!
