This is the best museum I have ever visited.nI have been here twice now once on a weekday and now a weekend as I am not local to Leeds.nnHowever, there is so much to explore and this place is massive!nnI love how they do interactive acts and teachings on different armoury and weapons used in the past. It’s so enticing that it’s easy to spend a whole day here.nnThey open from 10AM-5PM like other museums but there is so so much more to see.nnNo need to pre-purchase any tickets before hand as there is no wait and they are free regardless.nnI 100% recommend watching the acts and talks they hold every hour which the last one is usually held at 3PM as they are super informative and you can learn so much.nnIt’s a lovely, fun, interactive and educational day out for all ages.nnAll of the staff are incredibly polite and super attentive if you need any help or to ask any questions!nnI also recommend donating as it keeps amazing museums like this running!nnLastly, David and Keith were amazing, they usually do the interactive acts and I have watched them both times I have visited this museum. Their stage presence is amazing with the talks and acts which really entices you to what they are teaching. They are super interactive with the audience also which is really quite special!
Not just the best museum I've ever experienced, but also one of the most entertaining things I've ever done. The shows were delightful, awesome and educational, the collection is enormous, and everything is set up so incredibly meticulously. Would recommend literally everyone capable of doing so to visit the Royal Armories Museum it's even possible to visit it online via their site!. If you are an arms & armory or history enthusiast, this place is heaven. For me it's incomprehensible that this museum is free to visit, but luckily it's easy to donate at certain locations or after the shows.
The Armory Museum in Leeds is a hidden gem for history enthusiasts, especially those with an interest in medieval armor and weaponry. The collection is impressive, featuring a wide array of beautifully crafted armors, swords, and historical artifacts that transport visitors back in time. What really sets this museum apart, however, is the live performances from actors inside. These interactive displays bring history to life, with actors dressed in period appropriate costumes, adding an immersive and engaging layer to the experience. The museum offers free entry, making it accessible to everyone, and it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Whether you're a history buff or simply looking for something unique to do in Leeds, the Armory Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the past. It’s both educational and entertaining, with a great balance of static displays and dynamic performances. Highly recommended!
Really great museum that's free! Some really good exhibits and talks. Staff have great knowledge and are really friendly and approachable. Even overheard them talking to each other about the exhibits and their history showing passion for what they do. Was really surprised at how quiet this place was for the location. Bring your family here! It's a great day out and is full of history! And they may even get to witness a medieval duel. There's a private car park close by which is a bit pricey but as this place is free it's still worth it. Plenty of toilet facilities available. Only suggestions would be simple people like me get lost and definitely went the wrong way around the exhibits some advised direction floor stickers would help. There were quite a few smudges on the glass from overeager pointers and a couple of exhibits at the edges were a little tired. Highly recommend taking a pic with your reflection, wearing the samurai armour was great fun :
I really enjoyed my trip to the Royal Armouries! Was very informative and tonnes of things to see. The staff were lovely, approachable and very informative. We visited during half term and it wasn’t too busy either.nnI feel like I have to go back just to take in the vast amount of information I discovered.nnAnd it’s free too! So many museums recently are charging to enter so it’s wonderful to be able to learn for free.nnThank you!
