York Rowntree Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Site
"A picturesque riverside site in North Yorkshire within easy walking distance of York. It is less than a mile into York via a path along the banks of the River Ouse making it an ideal base to explore this beautiful and historic city which boasts a wide range of attractions including York Minster, the Shambles, the Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum. The city is also a great destination for shopping and eating out while further afield the site is well placed for day trips to Leeds and Harrogate. Tent camping is also available at this site."

We have stayed here many times. We have always found the warden's helpful and friendly. I think to treat people as you want to be treated and everything is fine.. The site is well kept and very clean, the toilet's/ shower's are warm and regularly cleaned. The location is perfect, York attractions are within easy walking distance as is bishopthorpe road . The only reason that I have given four and not five star's is the cost. It is very expensive and change's with the school holidays.
Great site, so convenient for sightseeing and shopping in York. 10 or 15 minutes walk in to the city centre depending on which route you take, some steps and cobbles but can be avoided. Handy for the racecourse too, I cycled there in about 10 minutes for the Parkrun and a book fair. The site itself is clean and tidy with good size pitches, toilet and showers are the usual CAMC high standard. We chose the larger size for our camper van and awning, all pitches are gravel. Due to it's proximity to the city centre this site is obviously very popular, occupancy and turnover seems very high which I guess reflects in the price but we felt it was worth it to be so close to the centre of York. We really enjoyed our four night stay here and will hopefully return.
Probably the best campsite of the club's many sites across the UK. Literally a few minutes walk to the city, the park and Bishopsgate district. No wonder it took so long to get a space here. Fabulous facilities and great staff.
Have stopped at Rowntree Park a couple of times a year, for many years. Perfect for walking into York 15 or 20 minutes at most. Bishy Road near the back entrance has plenty of interesting shops. Pitches are a good size and all hard standing, ideal for a City break. Shower blocks are warm & very clean. Arrival time is 1pm and there is a reason, the access road is narrow and queueing would block the access road to Rowntree Park which is next to the caravan & Motorhome site. As a previous reviewer only given 4 stars due to the cost £50+ for 2 people in high season.
This is an amazing place to go for your holidays to York. I go every year in October with my family and they never fail to disappoint. Very easy for little kids too because there is only a short walk over the bridge to a city centre
A good place to stay when visiting York as it's right in the centre. Just a short walk away from the attractions. Alongside the river so easy access to a good cycle path. All hardstanding pitches, with EHU. To be honest the pitches are too big if you just have a motorhome, maybe they could do some smaller aire type pitches for a cheaper price, as it is an expensive campsite. The staff were really pleasant and helpful. Toilets and showers were spotlessly clean, but they are closed at 10am for a couple of hours for cleaning. Would definitely stay here again if we were visiting York. As it is very popular you need to book well in advance.
Stayed here in our motorhome for two nights. Brilliant location. Only 10 mins walk to the centre of York. Site very clean with good facilities. Have already booked again for June.Location: 5/5
Great location for a visit to York. It's a nice 20 minute max walk away. Lots of bridges to choose from to alternate your route to the city centre. Great little "mini-high-street" just up from the campsite. Lots of pubs, cafes and shops within about a 7 minute walk. Edit. We're back again. October 2022. Still a great base to explore the fantastic city of York.
Had a lovely couple of days here. Friendly staff, lovely clean facilities, dog friendly, close enough to walk to all the shops, pubs etc. Will definitely go again.
Really enjoyed our stay, we even extended by 2 days, with the help of the friendliest site manager and wife team who were chatty and happy to help. Brilliant customer service. Love the site, beautifully maintained and amazing access to York city. Hope to return soon....
