This is one of a select few places where you get traditional British fish & chips . The fish batter is light and crispy , fries are hand cut and well made , tasty coleslaw and tartar sauce although that is away from traditional ! . The restaurant has 2 sections - the first room has the bar as well as booths and then there is the Solarium. Definitely a must visit for great fish & chips with welcoming, professional and friendly service. There is also a full bar and excellent selection of beers. Wheelchair accessibility: One of the 3 entrances near parking lot has a ramp
That was an excellent meal! The chowder was great. The clam strips are fantastic, paired with a tasty seafood sauce. The cod was perfectly done, crispy on the outside. Tender, moist and flaky on the inside. Yummy tartar sauce. The chips were just right. Nothing at all oily or greasy on the plate. Save room for dessert if you can - the key lime pie was tart and not too sweet. The service was friendly and attentive but not cloying. I tried their Olde Yorke, a dark beer that paired really well with lunch. Great pub atmosphere. Note - they do not take reservations.
Elders say that if you really want to know that the restaurant's food is healthy and fresh, you should visit the restaurant in the middle of the week. I went here for lunch with my daughter and husband on Wednesday to celebrate Valentine's Day. The taste of the food was wonderful and unique, the environment was very pleasant. Paige and Matthew went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed everything, thank you, guys. If you come here, be sure to try the lemon pie dessert because you won’t find it anywhere else and it’s really delicious.
Been here about 3 times now, and I get why people say this place is one of the best fish and chips restaurants in the city. It's been a consistently good experience with both food and service every visit. The haddock and halibut are both great, and so are the handmade fries and sauces. Parking can be hard to find during dinnertime, but there is street parking nearby too.
I couldn’t think of a better spot to recommend if you’re looking for some fish n chips The batter was just so different than other spots. It was super greasy or oily and not sure, but didn’t seem like lard was used either, which can really make it taste weird even if it cools down for a bit. It was nice and crispy and kept the encased fish super flaky It’s got an old English pub feel of an atmosphere and the service was top notch. Super patient with all our questions and explained all the differences between, haddock, cod and halibut The batter for the fish is also used for the onion rings, which I would also recommend giving a try. So crispy! Also had to add to the experience and end off with a deep fried mars bar alongside some deep fried pineapple. There’s some parking on the side and back of the building, but it can fill up fairly quickly, as that is what we saw. Lots of space when we went in around 12 and when we left, not a single spot. So just be patient Great job overall!
One of my favourite fish & chip restaurants. Tried the calamari - it was good, but it seemed to be slightly darker like it was cooked in older oil. Haddock, Chips and Coleslaw was delicious. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, but tight spaces.
By far my favourite fish and chips in Toronto! I’ve actually had cod and chips at a good fish and chips restaurant in London UK, 3days prior to visiting Old Yorke , and I can say that I’ll just stick to having fish and chips here. Food was good , friendly staff, and the prices are not bad at all. Separate entrance for take out , so watch where you enter!
The best in town. Place is a staple and worth the drive here. I've tried many and still come back here for my fix. Homemade tartar sauce is money. Must try!Food: 5/5
Cozy fish and chips pub with British vibes. Easily top 2 fish and chips in Toronto for sure. I don't ever see cod cheeks back in Bay Area so that was an easy pick for me. I found the cod cheeks tasted better, but the cod was fried better. Both were good so can't really go wrong. I also opted for the poutine substitution as well. Topped it off with their homemade apple crisp and homemade key lime pie. They asked if we wanted vanilla or chocolate ice cream... Which was interesting haha. Anyway, can't go wrong with either of those two as well. Definitely coming back.
The fish batter is fluffy and crispy. Plus the fries are made in house and are also crispy too! Loved it in the poutine. Also get the key lime pie. :Food: 5/5
