The place is big and nicely decorated, but it seems to be a little old and dirty. Some carpets look disgusting. The food is nice and they always have nice deals. If you're a UoP student, aks for the Student's burger. The price is lower than the other burgers and the food tastes basically the same. Nice place for drinks and nights out.
Got the mixed grill for a pretty decent price, alcohol is cheap and if I’m honest, not a bad little party scene in the evenings as well. Some staff could do with some cheering up though.
Decent value for money with the student burger and all food is genuinely great. Besides stealing my jacket for a whole 2 minutes and all they did was put it in lost and found..he wasnt lost. He's just misunderstood. Besides this i liked the place and am very happy to go anytime..without a jacket.
It was the first time I had been to this establishment, the reason for my visit was that I had been invited to a social meeting which went extremely well, this was partly due to the pleasant atmosphere and the helpful and friendly service from the staff. I would be more than happy to give Yates a high recommendation. I am looking forward to my next meeting there. I forgot to mention that the time of my meeting, which was between 11:00 to 13:00 hrs. I hope this review is helpful!.
I went for a early Christmas lunch with work on 30/11/18 as we did this last year and were happy then so thought we would do it again. It was great value at £11.95 for three courses. It was tasty and hot, all enjoyed their meals. The service was good and made sure we were happy without being intrusive.
Not the best experience considering the next morning myself and my partner are both ill from the food. Prices are okay though especially for the portion size and the price of alcohol is good. Definitely a lot cheaper than else where but from my experience I wouldn't recommend
Breakfast is pretty good quite cheap tastes alright. Had the full English was a decent amount of food. However the student burger used to be banging, proper good back last year but now it's all different and just very mehhhh. Quite disappointed tbh. Shows sports though so overall it's okay
For me being slightly older than the evening crowd, it is a good stop off for a beer after shopping in the town. Service is good and you are treated with some respect which is rare these days and most appreciated. My drink of choice is Strongbow and at £2.60 a pint, there are no complaints here! Eveningso it turns more lively and the average drops. Have stayed later a couple of times and it's still a good place, mind you I have never lasted till 2am! Give it a try if your passing, it's OK!
One of the best pubs in Portsmouth. Good Food and drinks all around. Nice atmosphere to enjoy a pint, food and watch a football match. The only negative about this place is that anything you touch is sticky. Recommended only for nights out with the lads and football.
I Went here to catch up with a friend and watch the football. The carpets were dirty. The food was reasonably priced but lacked quality. The hot chocolate was cold and not even any marshmallows. To be honest if it were not for the desire to watch the football then I would have just gone to weatherspoon:
