We stop here without booking on sunny Sunday. The place was full and fully booked but we agreed to wait for a table if is full there is a reason!. We've got the table in about 20 minutes. Ordered Sunday roast, one vegan and one beef. The vegan one unfortunately was sold out so they offered a substitution of vegan sausages. A bit disappointed but without booking can expect to find everything. However the vegetables were amazing as the gravy. My partner loved the roast beef. The roasted parsnips were to die for. Definitely coming back with booking to try the vegan roast! The service was excellent even though they were short staff. Great places for a Sunday roast and if is sunny you can eat in the lovely garden.
Just had lunch here on a quiet Saturday afternoon. We were made to feel very welcome right from when we walked in. The food really nice and was great value for money Apparently the bread is made on the premises for the sandwiches. We will definitely be back to try the evening menu. Highly recommended. I can now say we've been back and the evening menu was just as nice and again really good value. Well worth a visit
This is a follow up review to my one below after yet another outstanding experience... If you've not visited Bard and his family then you're missing out... Who'd a Thought is the best venue and we're just saddened we don't liver closer or we'd probably eat here more regularly.. you are welcomed as if one of the family, great menu choices and superb service. You'd be forgiven for thinking you were in Londons Knightbridge with the quality of the food. We can't rate this pub high enough so go see for yourselves ! Who'd A Thought, take a bow for outstanding service, exquisite food and loving our Boxer boy George! We're the sort of eaters with often unrealistic expectations and often just come away from eating out disappointed with 'something' but not here. On this occasion we just wanted dog friendly but got much more.. George would have stayed forever so take your 4 legged family members here while you dine on probably the best pub food we've ever had. Congratulations to them for surviving the most horrendous 18mnths and to the chef and bar staff for giving us a perfect experience...
A small but perfectly formed pub with the required range of ales and lagers, burgers and delicious things home made ice cream and charmingly eccentric and pedantic landlord. Good child's play area, reasonable prices and clean loos. Warning, car park is smallish and tables by the door are tall and leave your feet dangling although you are near the open fire... Great place, heartily recommend.
What superlatives can be said? Wonderfully friendly staff, a superb ambience, and delicious food and a cracking pint of 6X. If you're thinking of going to visit then do so, you won't regret it. A wonderful menu to choose from and this is our "Go to Pub" whenever we visit the area ... Enjoy.....
This is an update on my previous post, having just visited today for the Christmas party lunch. Unfortunately it felt nothing like the lovely experience we had last time! Priced at £45 a head the very least we could have expected was a view of the Christmas tree! Instead we where seated in the draughty entrance hall on bench seats. The lady on the next table sat with her coat on through her entire meal. There was very little ambience, the food and service where at best average! On the whole a very disappointing day out! This place really is a hidden gem! The Sunday Lunch we had was absolutely delicious and the pork crackling was to die for! The ambience was perfect and the service was 5 star. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Went for Sunday lunch with my husband, we had the beef, served on a bed of root vegetables. Not sure what the magic ingredient is in their gravy but it's very tasty! A lovely atmosphere.
went for a Sunday roast and will be returning. The roast sirloin of beef was perfectly cooked, pink in the middle, tender and tasty. The roast comes with 2 large Yorkshire puddings and loads of gravy, the roast potatoes were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Good food, helpful staff, good beer and open fires. Great atmosphere.
Really lovely Sunday. Excellent food all round, great service, friendly and hospitable all round. Exceptionally clean and well presented and great with the kids. Would highly recommend a visit.
