Wonderful traditional village pub. Good atmosphere, helpful staff and excellent food. Also, for any classic Dr who fans, used as a filming location for the series way back in 1971.
The Blue Boar is a quintessential English pub set in the heart of a proper English Village. As soon as you walk through the front door you feel at home and the staff make you feel more than welcome. There is a good selection of well kept cask conditioned ales as well as a superb pint of Guinness! The Sunday lunch is to die for and as a starter I would highly recommend the haggis bon bons:- we spent time in The Blue Boar during the past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I can only imagine it being a very popular pub come the summer months when you can sit outside on the Green in the heart of the village and casually watch the world go by. 10 out of 10 from us and we look forward to returning to The Blue Boar at Aldbourne.
A famous pub in a famous quaint village, where back in 1973, a Dr. Who episode was filmed. The pub was run by very welcoming staff and meal I had was delicious, a baguette filled with tender beef and with gravy over it, alongside with some crispy chips and a bit of salad, all washed down with a nice pint of Corvus, a malty Guinness type drink.
Not able to eat here as a large party were expected. A disappointing range of gin. However friendly service from table service waiter and was clean and well presented.
Been so excited to finally visit this pub. Gorgeous location. Great food. However let down by the landlady. Poor skills. We arrived. Empty garden seating. Picked a table and sat down. The landlady came out and bluntly said. "Cant sit there, only for pre bookings" I explained I had booked. Her reply " ok then" Rude What should have happened. " hello, welcome to our pub, have you booked a table ?"...... Shame !
Great Waddy's country pub on the village green, superb seafood platter, sat out in front of the pub on a summers day with a pint and great food, what could be better
Great service, lovely food and reasonably priced. Will be going back.
Very friendly and welcoming staff. The food was excellent and caters for many allergies and dietary limitations. We will be back!
Absolutely perfect, great menu with best in whole area quality, really perfect. Everyone very friendly and tip top service. We came back because it was great before and it still is. Very highly recommended. As a bonus its in a beautiful village.
Just happened to be in the area and found this nice old pub overlooking the village green and church and rows of lovely cottages. Good selection of beers and food and friendly staff.
