I friend recommed thier thai food night wednesday's and wow, what a treat! Its a fiendly cosy village pub and the food was excellent, some of the party wanted mildly spiced others a tad hotter. We were not disappointed, the flavours came flooding through. The recommeded wine, was a sassy french number which complemented and rounded off a very good meal indeed. The landlords were very engaging with a litererally warm welcome: around the blazing log fire in the bar area. Highly recommend ...enjoy!
Two days after they had reopened I contacted Anne-Marie to book a family gathering. Nothing was too much for them. They even got the chef to start a day early to provide a great spread for us. Highly recommend. We will definitely be back.
Stopped here with my daughter on our cycle ride to Bath. Lovely pub, food was delicious and a very friendly landlady. New owners I’m told by a local we were chatting to. We’ll be back. Recommended.
Good music playlist. Delicious pudding. Friendly staff and local people.
What a superb pub. Well worth the drive across. Real ale served in a glass with a handle - small point, but means a lot. The chef is from Brittany and very talented. The Soup and Pheasant was sublime with a delicious Paris Brest for desert. Very classy and not your average pub grub. It's also incredibly well priced - I would have expected to pay a lot more. Thank you Alex and team for a wonderful lunch - we will be back!
Early days for new owners but friendly welcome and vg beer. New menu looks great. We'll be back!
Popped in for a drink the new owners are very friendly. We weren't eating but the food that was coming out of the kitchen looked really good.
Lovely location. Good beer. Friendly staff. We booked a table on a Friday night. There was no need. We were the only diners here. We now know why. The food was awful. A ploughman's with a dab of butter, a slice of packet ham and a supermarket mini pork pie. The cod and chips looked and tasted like it was reheated from the previous day. Shocking, really. There were a handful of 'locals' drinking outside the front but no-one else. What a waste. Do not eat here. The website menu is not the menu that was on offer.
We had a really delicious supper in The Plough the other night and tried starters, main courses as well as puddings!!! We recommend the pickled sea bass and onion soup. The porc tenderloin and vegetable curry were just perfect too. Having read the excellent reviews of the Paris Brest pudding we also tried that one and were delighted with our choice. All in all a great evening, a lovely table by the window overlooking the green, a very attentive service and really wonderful food. Bravo Alex and Aubin! Merci.
The Plough's new French chef has greatly improved the food there. My wife and I had supper there recently. I had onion soup followed by a pheasant ragout. Both were absolutely delicious. This is simple country fare prepared and presented to a very high standard.
