My favourite thing about ‘spoons is the history of the buildings they inhabit!nMy husband remembers this place as the old 1970s Esso garage, and Spoons have honoured this history by displaying huge old metal garage signs on the way up to the terrace.nI’ve driven past the King Doniert many times and wanted to go in, it always looked welcoming.nToday when we went in we were met with a huge space seating area with comfy looking chairs and tables. We headed straight upstairs because it was sunny and we wanted to be outside. I’ve been in many pubs across the country and I can tell you that the roof terrace or garden is often grossly overlooked by bar and cleaning staff but this terrace is clean, has decent tables, matching chairs and even netting to protect your food from Cornwalls pesky chip-eating seagulls!nSpeaking of food, my husband had stray and ale pie with mash and I had the chicken burger with Jack Daniel’s glaze.. this is now my favourite meal in the world! The bun was soft but toasted, the chicken was crispy and hot, the chips were fluffy and crispy and the onion rings were crunchy and not greasy. I consider myself a chicken burger expert and this was definitely top 3! Considering it has to contend with top spot Foreign Muck in Saltash that is very good going indeed.nThe place was clean, accessible and the toilets smelled nice
Fantastic spoons with upper sun terrace great breakfast & service & beautiful little town
As a weatherspoons it's not a bad pub, it's clean and tidy staff are friendly and service was quick. Has expected pretty much the same menu and deals as others.nnHowever was a little disappointed with the food, wife ordered the mixed grill and was not great, meat pieces were small and not very appetizing. I myself order a chicken burger and the chicken was dry and hard the surface as if it had been overcooked, this made it difficult to actually eat it as a burger.
It's a weatherspoons food is pretty good I like the curry always great!! Staff struggle a tad when it's busy but it's a big place to be fair to them! Atmosphere is good
My partner and I came to this spoons tonight as it is near his house and we felt like chilling out after a long day at work. The lad that served us was amazing, so incredibly helpful and helped us decide what we wanted to drink. His name was Cam or Cal, I believe.nThe best, happiest service ive ever received here.
