Tbh, it was much better when it was TableTable, staff were much more on the ball. We stayed in the Premier Inn so this was first choice as it was a short walk. The lighting is dark, some lights were broken so maybe see to those. The menu is okay but focuses on burgers and grills more than anything else. Staff are a little rushed, slowly I've seen an overall decline over the years in service and food choices. But there is a homely atmosphere here, the wood next to the artificial fireplaces is nice. Breakfast as always, is nice but they always seem a little short staffed at breakfast, we're talking 2 staff members on. There was a little draft too but it was only minor so it wasn't a great issue. 3 stars, improve menu choices, get some more staff, especially breakfast time. Fix the lights and maybe add some more lighting but not so as it's too bright, as the darkness adds to the feel of the pub.

ZERO STARS!! I booked a table for 5 people only to turn up and be told the booking wasn't on their system. I showed the member of staff, who turned out to be the manager, the email confirming the booking but apparently that wasn't good enough. We were offered to sit along the bar, 5 people in a row (!!!)...Or a 2 and a half hour wait!! No effort was made to fit us in somewhere (we could see empty tables), just a no can do attitude. Not so much as a voucher for the inconvenience, not even an apology! We live locally but won't be using the Tavern again, can't wait for the Weatherspoons to open!!

Great food and great service until we came to pay. We had presented our voucher at when we sat down so that anything we ordered we knew would be discounted by our voucher. We then ordered from the set menu, which unbeknown to us wasn't included in the voucher but we weren't informed by our waiter that this was the case. We couldn't find our waiter when we had finished our meal and had to search for a member of staff to pay. We were then informed we couldn't use our voucher for 40% off as we used the set menu. We were then introduced to 4 different members of the management team. The most senior of the management explained that as his waiter had gone home there was no possible way to corroborate our story and that we could be therefore making it up. He was rude and offensive and not a manager I would ever employ in the service industry. They ended up knocking off the price of 2 desserts, a far cry from a 40% discount on 6 mains but it was something. Clearly a lack of training for the waiting staff as to what offers are available and what they cover as well as a clear lack of ability to deal with customers on the management side

Very poor lighting. No healthy (vegetarian) option No allergy information available. The food, which arrived at the next table looked minging. So we all left, without even buying a drink. Thanks goodness for the chip shop in Callington. They easily managed to cater for us all.

The food is good, the staff are welcoming and happy to help in any way, but the carpets and decor need attention
