Stayed here as a bit of an unknown as I needed a cheap place for 6 people for 1 night. The accommodation was fine, worked well for us, check in was smooth and all remote. The place was apparently in use during the week and there were items that belonged to these people, which wasn't immediately obvious. I'd stay here again for a one night if I needed to.
Beautiful location and wonderful site! Friendly staff! Located very close to Aston on Trent for a few pubs! Would definitely recommend.Rooms: 5/5
Stayed here 4 nights in V.I.P lodge.. the furniture and decor where cheap and dated. These lodges could be fantastic with a little T.L.C. and upgrade furniture. The hot tub was fab but after couple days water gets easily dirty with kids going in and out. The lodge is very spacious and clean enough surrounding area quiet some overhead noise from airport but didn't bother us at all. Great Base or great to just get some peace and quiet for few days.
We had an amazing bank holiday retreat at the lodges. The lodges were very clean. Our lodge fit 2 couples my husband and myself and my best friend and her husband the jacuzzi was a little frustrating to operate as the buttons did not work but we managed to figure it out. There weren't any staff available to help us seeing as it was a bank holiday weekend. The lodges are a quick drive away from the shopping centre.
Arrived at the site, no one around, didn't see any staff all week accept what looked like a caretaker. Doors to the cabin were a nightmare to lock/unlock. Sofa had a big tear in it, stains up the wall, rust on the radiator. Except for that everything else was relatively clean and tidy, hot tub was in very good condition, clean bedding etc. Ideal location for travelling to tourist attractions, most within an hours drive. Good quality restaurants with in a few miles.
Overall a nice stay, the lodge we stayed in was an upgrade so we stayed in the VIP lodge for the same price as the standard lodge which was brill. However I must say although everything worked as it should and was clean and pleasant the lodge did definitely need some TLC. The sofas were definitely in need of replacing as they were broken, broken tiles on the bathroom floor, broken blinds, broken tap and a few other minor things. It is frustrating as with those few minor things fixed it'd be perfect and it really is just a few hours work for a handy man. Hot tub was lovely, clean, hot and peaceful. The location isn't very tranquil due to it being close to derby but in all honesty once you are there it is very quite, we had a very peaceful and relaxed stay. There are a few negatives, we didn't see a single staff member at the park, not on check in or check out we simply picked an envelope up and dropped and envelope off on leaving, need staff there to greet at least. We went as a couple for a relaxing break, it's a perfect place for this. If you're planning a trip with children I would strongly recommend somewhere else as there is literally nothing for kids or to keep them entertained. Part of the park are under construction still, we went on a weekend and there was no work going on but I would imagine during the week there is construction workers on site. The price... if we had paid the £500+ for the vip cabin we would have been a little disappointed, I think the sum we paid was a sufficient amount for the cabin we received even though it was classed as an upgrade due to unforeseen circumstances with the original cabin. Another negative is that there is no internet at all in the cabin, so for a TOP TIP what we did was take our Amazon fire stick then use our Samsung phone as a wifi hotspot so we could connect our firestick for movies ect and it worked a treat. All in all I would recommend this place for the price if you are an adult only group, if you compare this sort of break to a forest holiday break you'd be paying double and then some at forest holidays so it did work out as value for money for us in the end.
The entrance to the park is not very well lit so was difficult to find on a dark foggy night. The lady on reception was very polite when we arrived. The lodge was very cold when we first got in but after a quick visit from the maintenance man he adjust the heating timer straight away and the problem was resolved. The lodges themselves are well equipend and look lovely from the outside. The hot tub was set up and good to go when we arrived and looked very clean and well maintained. The interior of the lodge was not very well cleaned with some items left from the previous occupant and the floor could of done with a vacuuming but not it wasn't horrific. The lodge could benefit from some updating and a small amount of attention but everything functioned as it should. There was only a small brush to keep the place tidy, I would of like a bit more equipment supplied such as a dustpan and a mop and bucket. The lodge is a little far ot from major family attractions but if your willing to drive there is a lot of choice. The park is lovely but would probably not book again.
Such a shame because the lodge itself is absolutely beautiful. However I don't think we will return, we stayed her 7th - 10th December 2018 as 2 couples but we have had no end of problems. When we first pulled up next to out lodge there was rubbish left outside of it from the previous tenants then we got inside and it was beautiful and very relaxing so we brushed it under the carpet however Friday evening we wanted to shower before getting into bed to find out the shower wouldn't heat up so we contacted the out of hours number and asked if someone would come and look however it wasn't until the Saturday that someone came to have a look and then told us he would contact a plummer and said the plummer and himself would ring us when they were on there way... No phone call to us nor a plummer, he said to us in the mean time you could use another lodge to shower which was fine until we went over to it to find out it hasn't been clean from previous tenants, someone then got in touch and said the plummer is going to come out on Monday 10th which was no good as we were leaving so we had to go over to the gym and use the showers each day... Throughout our stay the water kept going off in the taps, the toilet door handle was put on backwards, the oven did not work so it was difficult to cook the foods we had bought and then on our last night we couldn't even use the hot tub because the water was cloudy and very smelly. Such a shame because the lodge and location itself are very beautiful.. The beds in our lodge however were very comfortable and spacious. I'm sorry that I've had to leave a review like this... It grieves me but I really am disappointed and let down especially with the amount of money we have paid to come here
It's a shame they don't care about the customers because the location and the hot tubs are great. No one on reception all weekend. They don't answer the phones when you ring them and don't get back to you when you leave messages. Impossible to hire a BBQ if you go down on a weekend so don't bother taking your own food. Stains on the sofa inside, dirty pan left in the dishwasher from the people before. Disappointing.
Turned up and allocated a sherwood lodge, horrified as hadn't been cleaned dirty towels still in lodge, dishwasher full. Was upgraded but still issues no trays/dishes for the oven, no kitchen bin No heating in the bathroom Some sockets in lounge don't work Bedroom furniture falling apart in places this is suppose to be a luxury lodge and certainly not.
