Harpur's Of Melbourne

About

Harpur’s of Melbourne is situated in the heart of Melbourne in South Derbyshire.

Story

Harpur’s of Melbourne is situated in the centre of Melbourne, a beautiful Georgian market town, right on the corner of DerbyRd and Potter Street. It is the focal point of the town and has been part of the heritage of Melbourne for well over 150 years, Formerly The Melbourne Hotel, before the name was changed to Harpur’s after extensive refurbishment in 2011, this was originally a pair of houses fronting on to Potter Street, built on a vacant plot of land in 1773. The Hotel started in one of the houses, before expanding into the other house and then extended onto Derby Road in 1853.

Melbourne, and the surrounding area, is steeped in history and Harpur’s is an excellent base for sightseeing. It offers you the comfort and style to ensure your trip is enjoyable, relaxing and memorable.

The introduction of exciting new menus, a new Head Chef and great friendly staff have transformed Harpur’s into a stylish Bar and Restaurant, with lovely boutique accommodation, which not only attracts locals but also lots of visitors to South Derbyshire.

We called in late Sunday on the off-chance since other options in Melbourne either shut or selectively chose who could eat and who couldn't. We were given a table immediately, even thou the place was very busy. Staff could not have been more attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Food as always excellent. A credit to the establishment.
Great food and even better customer service.nNothing was to much to ask for regarding advice for allergens.nOur meals took a while to arrive which was due to an issue of the ticket not going through to the kitchen, the staff couldn't be more apologetic and removed the drinks from our bill.nnOverall a great night and will definitely return.
Best avocado on toast I've ever had! The service was also brilliant and they accommodated a grizzly 2 year old and a well behaved dog. The millpond down the road makes for a lovely walk after a meal too.
Met a friend at this establishment for breakfast before heading off to Derby for the football. The full English breakfast was very tasty and filling. Perfect set up for the day.
Excellent solo 1 night stay. Staff were friendly and service was fab, both in the restaurant and the hotel. My room was clean, comfy and really luxurious, I couldn't fault it. The food I ate for Sunday lunch was fresh, tasty and excellent quality. I will definitely be returning.
