Wellwood Arms
"Soak up our friendly service and homely charm when nestled in this stunning roadside pub in the heart of Amble harbour town. Here at The Wellwood Arms, we are the perfect retreat to sit back, relax and indulge in our delicious food with the perfect drink in hand.Originally built as a farmhouse for Link House Farm, one of the three farms which made up early Amble, the pub is one of the oldest buildings in the whole of the town! Records dating back as far as 1842 show that the farm was owned by a Mrs Maria Wellwood – a possible explanation for the pub’s name today! Our traditional pub classics are expertly crafted from our seasonal menus and the bar is crammed with local ales and tipples to tempt any taste buds."

Nice pub for Sunday lunch. Pork, gammon, turkey and beef were on offer and you are able to pile up your plate with vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and great gravy. I would recommend it. It is only a 10 minute walk from Amble Harbour.
The pub itself was nice with a good selection of drinks. I ordered the ribs which looked like they were out a packet and flung in the microwave! My husband’s had the sausages and mash and his wasn’t good either. Mash looked like it had been heated up in a microwave and the sausages looked like cheap supermarket ones unfortunately. It’s a shame as it was a lovely pub inside but I wouldn’t go back if the food was of the same standard!
Nice pub for a drink but the food was terrible. They forgot my starter. Ordered sausages and buttery mash for my main. Sausages tasted like a cheap supermarket bought type. Mash was neither buttery or mashed properly and the Yorkshire pudding was rubbery like it had been heated up
Very disappointed after last year. I’m guessing its changed hands. Food is sub standard and the service is terrible. Both us and a table next to us waited over an hour to be asked for deserts and the table to be cleared. I actually mean we left after an hour and the tables hadn’t been cleared and we didn’t get asked if we wanted dessert . In the middle of this, I went to the bar for a drink and was asked to settle the bill in full without even finishing our meal. Very disappointed nice place for a drink but I would avoid the food
Can't comment on rooms as we just called in for some drinks in the evening. But there was a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Dog friendlyRooms: 3/5
Went here for Xmas lunch. Paid £75 each. Service was atrocious. Waited 45 mins for starters! Only got that after complaining! Food was mediocre to say the least. Cheese fondue was mainly melted cheddar! Veggie option was bought in pie at least that was my assumption second course long awaited also, was given a glass of Prosecco as way of apology. No explanation for delay. Total bill £163 Never again! Sent messages but received no response. No great customer service! Best stay home and cook it yourself
We were in Amble for a couple of days. Visiting family. We were made to feel very welcome. Lovely friendly staff. The food was excellent.Service: 5/5
Couldn't say much more had a pint when I walked my dog, a pub on the road it was noisy and polluted off cars. The staff seemed nice and the dog was very welcome.Rooms: 3/5
Really disappointed looks beautiful busy cleaning lines when we arrived for a start. Sounds strange but ice was dirty . Food was disgraceful will not be visiting again unless under new management
Great night out. My meal was very good spice burger and lots of selection of beers. Staff very friendly. Only problem was the ribs somebody had ordered on our table, cost £18 and it was not worth it at all, sweetcorn dry and ribs looked like they were out of a packet. AVOID. The good point of the night was the quiz. Really enjoyed it.. Shame this one thing spoiled it.
