Went in for a bite to eat after driving through the national park to see the heather. Friendly bar staff/landlord. Clean and tidy. The toilet was lovely and clean too. I had minced beef and mash with a crusty dumpling on top and hubby had sausage and egg pie with mash and peas. Tasty, home cooked food. Would return and recommend. Garden looked nice too. Food & drinks: Fair prices. Home cooked. Piping hot.
Went there for the grub whilst on a long break up north. Dog friendly, staff were super attentive, menu might seem limited but everyone enjoyed what was served. Home cooked chips, large portion sizes, nice traditional pub feel to the place. A worthy visit for hungry travellers Food & drinks: Went there for the grub whilst on a long break up north. Saw this place as we were passing through and noted the name for later in the day. Rang ahead to see if they could accommodate a large party of us within the next few hours which they did within an hour. Warmly greeted upon arrival with table all ready. Fantastic home cooked meals that were all delicious and plentiful that only 2 puddings were ordered from 10 of us.Staff were lovely and felt very welcome.I would highly recommend a meal here.
What can I say, staff were super friendly and helpful. We went for a family meal and the food was great, kids didn't eat much but I tasted their food and it was also really nice. We would go again if we came to this area again!
Brilliant really friendly pub, with very sociable local people. Very dog friendly. Trendy, comfy pub/restaurant. Good beer, fantastic food. Good for watching sport.Service: 5/5
To end a lovely weeks holiday in Northumberland we went for a meal to The Shoulder of Mutton. It wasn't far from where we were staying. The staff were so welcoming as we entered and we were soon served a lovely meal. I had lasagne and my husband had a Chicken Curry. We couldn't manage a sweet. It was very reasonably priced too. I would definitely recommend going there.
Booked in for Easter Sunday lunch 2023. No problem with the booking as they asked if we could arrive 30 minutes earlier to allow us more time before the next booking. Arrived early and were still able to take our table. Ordered from the Sunday lunch menu, which was mainly roasts, but with enough other choices if you're not a traditional Sunday lunch type like us . We received our food only 5 minutes later! The quality was superb, both the mains and desserts, and the portions a good size too . Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and there was literally no time when we were sat around waiting for someone to come over. Really enjoyed the whole experience thank you. Food & drinks: Great food. Had a Sunday lunch with dessert and the quality was fantastic.
We visited for Sunday Lunch. Food was very good, reasonably priced and served swiftly. Would recommend.Service: 5/5
In early for tea so not many in. Service very good and food excellent, just be careful portions can be quite big so go with a healthy appetite.Service: 5/5
Had a few meals and drinks during our week in the area. Good atmosphere, food tipycal pub food but very well presented. Good cask ales. Lively friendly staff. Nearby activities: Some nice walks. The old church of st Mary's is worth the walk to get there. Food & drinks: Good selection, well cooked and presented.
