Just had Sunday lunch at the Wellington with two guests. What can I say? The food was superb along with the service from the staff. Great to have a meal that everybody enjoyed. The owner is always welcoming and it was nice to see him as not visited since before Covid. This place must be one of the best in the area for Sunday lunch. Will certainly be back very soon. Well deserved recent 4 stars award!
What a fabulous venue and location with superb food and service to match. Myself and two friends stayed for one night and we would all return and stay for longer. We ate in the restaurant and all had the crispy pork belly with a honey and cinnamon drizzle. Andy, the chef is to be congratulated on his culinary skills and palate, this is the best pork belly I have eaten, seasoned to perfection and the deftest of touches with the cinnamon. The peony room has a veranda that overlooks the rolling scenery. Thank you to the whole team for a great stay. Stopped in for lunch a few days after Christmas and the place was packed, glad we had booked. Super friendly and helpful staff, wide selection of beer, amazing food and the building inside and out is gorgeous. Great setting and a great meal with draught Black Sheep. Well worth the short drive from Harrogate.Recommended dishesSteak and Ale Pie
We have eaten here twice in one week whilst on a break away. Lovely pub, delightfully attentive staff. Food was delicious, portions were generous & good value for money. Would highly recommend a visit.
The pub had a fantastic atmosphere with a stunning fireplace as you enter. It's a really stubnnbg pub. The service was not great, with us having to approach the bar on multiple occasions to receive service, only to be told to sit back down at our table and wait for someone to arrive. The food was average but I had expected the quality to reflect the price paid.
Went in a group of 4 and had a 3 course meal. All the starters of ribs, fish and soup were delicious coming with freshly baked bread. The main courses of burgers lamb or nutroast were equally delicious and nicely cooked. One complaint about overzealous use of salt. The desserts and coffee rounded off a lovely experience. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Recommended.
Lovely traditional inn. Food fantastic. Room quite compact but spotlessly clean. Very quiet area ideal for visiting the Harrogate area. Everyone friendly. Lots of dogs as dog friendly. Ample parking. Rooms: Very clean and quiet if a tad on the small side Parking: Large car park
We have been working away the past few weeks and used the restaurant 2 or 3 times. Staff have always been prompt and punctual. Food quality and service has been excellent and competitively priced. Would definitely recommend to others and use again when in the area.Food: 5/5
We have usually had great food here, but the fish pie I ordered on Friday was very poor. The fish was in long pieces rather than small chunks, was grey and tasteless! I sent it back and was kindly offered an alternative, with no charge. But I have never had a fish pie like it.
Really great with good food and atmosphere. Had booked a table for mother's Day but had a dog with us, no dogs in the restaurant but they rearranged things so that we could sit in the bar area with the dog which was very accommodating. Food was excellent. Would definitely recommendFood: 5/5
