Went for dinner twice and each time left very satisfied. The food was delicious and looked lovely on the plate. The staff is very friendly, my dog loved the guy who always came by say hello and brought a treat warm place, good beer.
Had our Xmas do there on 17 Dec. The food and service was absolutely amazing! Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms small but lovely and what a fantastic breakfast! Highly recommend this place and will defo be going back! The staff there are an absolute credit!
Came for the beer, stayed for a very good meal, and will probably be back every time I am in the area. Quirky brews with excellent taste, and the offerings from the kitchen are top notch. Portions on the generous side, so you won't walk away hungry. Large car park at rear, though the footbridge can be slippery when wet ... Bon Jovi moment. Parking: At back, room for a few dozen cars.
Pretty good, the 8oz sirloin is expensive at £25.95 and was massively over seasoned. Please let people add their own at the table, I have a high threshold to salt and pepper and add it to most things but this was really really salty and peppery. The other stuff was okay.Food: 3/5
I’d always driven past this place. Pompously thinking it might be a bit ‘Bowness’ with touristy prices and prioritising turnover of tables over quality. How wrong was I. Went in after a winter walk with friend and a dog. Food was great. Great portion sizes the onion rings side order alone would fill some people, really good quality food and a choice of 6 draft ales all brewed by their own brewery on site. Lovely cosy feel to bar area. Only downside was that I was on dry January and my friend driving so didn’t get to sample the excellent choice of ales. We will return though. And as quickly as possible.
Always a great place for a proper pub lunch with a nice atmosphere. Nice layout, with nooks and crannies and feels like a traditional Lakeland pub. Really easy to get too as just off the main road from Kendal to Windermere. Good choice of beers brewed on site and friendly staff. Kids and dogs welcomed.
Called in on our way home after a lovely long walk around Tarn Hows do vert hungry, loved the menu with the traditional dishes but also some great original dishes, my son had the beef and ale pie, I had the winter hill chicken, both dishes were delicious home cooked and do tasty, staff were polite and attentive, a very friendly atmosphere, restaurant lovely and homely a fantastic. There were some great named ales brewed I believe in the pubs own brewery, I would highly recommend this restaurant/pub.
I have been visiting this pub for several years and have often been surprised and disappointed by the rather off-hand attitude of several staff members. A particularly diffident lady bar manager has fortunately left, but the replacements look even more hostile and seem incapable of extending a friendly welcome or a pleasant smile to their customers. Surely this is the least one might expect from those in the hospitality trade, especially these days when one almost needs to negotiate a mortgage to pay for even a modest round of drinks. Pubs should certainly not take their customers for granted, especially when so many are closing down for good. The only reason I continued to visit this quaint little Riverside pub was its close proximity to my home, enabling me to walk there. I have since moved away and hopefully can now enjoy warmer hospitality in a different public house. Such a pity, as in all other repects the Watermill is an excellent place in an ideal setting.
Order the apple crumble... to share! It's delicious but not possible to finish alone. Great meals, atmosphere and delicious doggy cookies Food: 4/5
Very dog friendly. Superb beer from its own micro brewery. Very efficient staff. Loved everything and we hope to return Food & drinks: It has its own micro brewery and the beer was superb. As CAMRA members we love that. Noteworthy details: Very dog friendly. Our dog was welcomed by staff in the bar and there were dog bowls readily available. Some dog friendly rooms Vegetarian options: Great veggie breakfasts. A bit disappointed with veggie choices on main menu but the food was OK
