Wanstead Underground station is served by the Central line its a nice station clean and tidy. There is a small sweet shop inside the station. There is no lifts at this station just escalators from the ticket hall to the platforms.
The Charles Holden designed 1930’s Art Deco styled building condensed to unadorned geometric shapes by the advent of WWII.nThe underground tunnels here repurposed as a pivotal wartime aircraft component manufacturing installation.nCompleted postwar on the cheap in 1947 with a stark exterior that anticipates the anonymity and precursor to Brutalism.nDistinctive - conjures a tollgate portal to the Matrix.
Well functioning medium size indoor tube station. Well maintained. It has a small shop inside and a paid car park outside. Central Line, Zone 4.
Cool clocks at this station
Very well set up station. The only minus is that sometimes it gets overground in the morning - but we can't complain, this is London peak hour. On the other hand, there is a dry cleaning and a place to buy snacks and coffee. There is always a wind while going up the escalator which is kind of weird
