ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. What an amazing gallery that always hosts exciting exhibitions. The Singh Twins are currently on display and their work definitely needs seeing. It's fantastic. Very helpful staff and great coffee shop also make it a great stopping point. Enjoy!

On entering the museum to the right of the reception area is a room full of carved stone figures and busts. The detail is really something. After that, without a map you would get lost in room after room of fantastic artwork. All tastes are covered from early work to modern art and a few of the greats, Rembrandt self portrait as a young man for example. The tea room was rather crowded probably because it was the weekend and the terracotta army were being displayed next door. (Well eight of them!)

A wonderful collection in a fine, historic building. Our free museums and galleries are to be cherished. The suggested donation for a visit is £4 - seeing the Turner or the Monet is worth more than that alone. Whether you spend 10 minutes just to see your favourite painting or sculpture or half a day here doesn't matter, just as long as you appreciate what a gem this place is.

Amazing Gallery. Like that you can leave your bags in a locker and roam the gallery. Loved the marble works. Cafe to small for the people they attract.
