Reviews
A stunning collection in a beautiful building. A £5 donation felt very reasonable and was glad to do it. The staff are really friendly and engaging and there are lockers for storing your rucksack etc, which was perfect for me. It wasn’t too busy but the cafe seemed to be downstairs. Loved the layout and collection a lot.
Beautiful, hidden treasure. Free admissionnnOnly gripe, they only accepted cash.nnStruggled to pay for the lunch in the cafe and souvenir shop too! But the stunning beams were sensational.nnHomemade broccoli soup with warm roll and butter was lovely and the cappuccino too!nnSo much more to see, would definitely return.
Admission is FREE:nHistory, history, history, this gallery is full of... yes, you guessed it, history. Housed in a truly exceptional buliding and in many rooms, you will find 'one of the UK's finest collections of fine and decorative art', along with other special exhibitions. Downstairs, there is an excellent cafe, their scones are second to none. If you visit in the colder months come dressed for cold, you won't overheat or, worse, be chilled as I was. On the way out, visit the gift shop there, as elsewhere on the Port Sunlight site, you will find happy, friendly, informative staff to assist you.
The Lady Lever Gallery is charming and full of gems and you can easily kill a few hours walking around. The grounds around the gallery are lovely and the village is charming and quaint. The only negative I'd say is that the gallery does feel a little disjointed to navigate at times and doesn't flow as well as some other museums and galleries and did start to become slightly overwhelming after a while - this could just be me and also due to maintenance and works in the gallery, but just a heads up to others, there's a lot to take in! I was however ecstatic to discover a whole wall of paintings featuring Elisabeth Siddal, the pieces in the galleries’ collections are stunning and definitely worth a visit.
I absolutely loved visiting this museum, although smaller than some others it's my favourite I've visited. I would 100% recommend this museum and would love to visit again.
