Village Hotel Ashton Moss

Good location and nice room layout. Little dusty in places but overall tidy and comfortable rooms. Nice bed and good hot shower. Gym was having a makeover when I was there,but swimming pool and steam room/sauna were good. Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on that. One let down was the fire alarm sounding in the middle of the night. Had an apology letter from hotel management but would have been nice to get a free drink for inconvenience

Went to check out as a wedding venue. Was good until we tried the spa. My teenage daughter wasn't allowed in any of the facilities as you have to be 16 to use the sauna or hot tub (!). So she used the loungers to check her social media whilst I had a swim in the lukewarm pool. She was asked to put her phone away which I understand. So she tried to read her kindle before being told she would have to leave as they were banned too due to safety! What on earth can a kindle do? Are you aware of the power output of them? Won't be going back. Rude pool staff intent on stopping any form of relaxation or enjoyment. Get some common sense. Unpleasant.

Ok modern hotel and good food. However the dark, early 2000's decor is not attractive. I could live with that IF the lighting was good. However dark decor and lights that are only effectively mood lighting are not conducive to working. I actually feel like I have had daylight deficiency! This was exacerbated by no view of the outside world at all from the room...just a thin patch of sky and solid arched roof. This made the stay less comfortable than necessary when away from home working and so I'll be refraining from choosing The Village chain of hotels again.

Stayed 5 nights with partner and our 2 daughters. Check in quick and friendly. In fact the people at the reception were always friendly and helpful. The carpets up to the first floor are tired and look unclean. The room was a good size but even with all the lights on the room is dull. Lack of closed wardrobe space an issue. Bed comfortable. TV excellent big flat screen. The bathroom was clean but the sink would not drain correctly. We found the room quiet and relaxing. Breakfast each day was a disappointment. Everything dry and tired. Cheap nasty sausages. No eggs to order? Tea tasted awful. Food displayed was in dark areas badly lit displays. The breakfast staff seemed like they had had no hostelrie training. Worst issue was dirty plates - yuck ! Plenty places to eat nearby - thankfully as after the dirty plates and breakfast I wouldn't eat here. The pool was good but spoiled by macho, zealous pool attendants. Where do they breed these types? Tram and his services close by to take you in to Manchester. Overall the hotel was okay but the terrible lighting everywhere and breakfast from hell would stop me coming here. Couldn't recommend this hotel at this price.

Reasonable hotel. Dated decor, glasses in the bathroom were used and still had water in them. Noise from the motorway was unbelievable, no ventilation in the bathroom and only reasonable breakfast with dry chocolate buns and simple sliced bread. The coffee was so weak it tasted like dirty water.
