I have now bought 2 vans from van national, my experience with them both times have been first class, no pushy sales, very straight forward process with the purchase.nnMy first van from them has been very reliable, especially considering I racked up 40,000 miles in 2 years with next to no problems with it.nnJust bought my second van from them and I am very happy with it, it went through an advanced rac check, the rac engineer even said himself how happy he was with it, which is a rarity in itself!nnHaving been burnt before with previous dealerships, I am very pleased to have come across a van dealership that does exactly what it says on the tin!nnAdam is a great guy, and very straightforward to deal with, have already recommended to others, I personally wouldn't go anywhere else!
Pre-purchase very good. Good quality fair priced van. Aftercare and contact very poor.nnI purchased a Renault Trafic from VanNational and my dealings with Tom were very good, he did an immediate honest walk around video of the van and was very pleasant to deal with. After some negotiation I decided to buy the van unseen and drive 3 hours to collect. I made a refundable £500 deposit, and agreed to pay the remainder after a final view and test drive. I arranged a date and time to meet and collect.nnI arrived on the day and was told Tom was sick and was dealt with by Scott. The van was exactly as described and drove well so I decided to buy the van. All vans are sold with 1/4 tank of fuel, but the van was on empty, so I asked for a fuel top up. No problem and 20 minutes later the van was ready to go. Except any documentation. I was originally told that the existing service records and other paper work would be ready on collection. Scott told me that the paperwork was locked away on a weekend and he would get it posted to me.nnA week went by, no paperwork and despite repeated emails now 4 weeks later I have still had no response and no paperwork. Almost as if once the van was sold, they were no longer interested.nnDisappointing end after a great start.nnWould I use them again or recommend? Tough call. If everything went well, I would have no issues. Now I would seriously consider going elsewhere, unless everything was 100% before I left, as aftercare seems non existent.
Vans are very well presented, they appear to be inline with others on price until you are presented with a £395 customer service charge, which is essentially them carrying out their legal obligations, transfer of owner ship etc etc. On top of that there is a fee of a similair amount if you dont use their expensive finance. So on the 4 vans i wanted to purchase had almost £3000 added charges to essentially send the invoice and transfer ownership. No thanks. I drove 2 minutes down the road to another dealer and there were no extras charges, what was displayed was what i paid.
Online chat: I tried to get a simple answer: can I just turn up to view vans without an appointment? Their website has no FAQs, and their chat support was useless. A bot called Grace kept pushing me to hand over my details instead of answering the question. When I finally asked directly, they just told me to call. Two hours’ drive away and I still don’t know if I can walk in or need to book. Frustrating and unhelpful. Their opening times are listed but it’s unclear if that means I can just browse or not. I won’t be making the journey. I just saw a they have an admin fee of £395 + vat on every vehicle too. That’s very steep.
Had a difficult van purchase with issues but the service team especially Danielle was second to none.nIf I could give more than 5 star service for her I woildnHighly recommend
