Just home from staying at the UJC for the first time. Safe to say most definitely not the last. Our early arrival at the front desk, meant we were able to use the baggage room prior to check in. Being unfamiliar the staff were as expected well turned out and extremely helpful in pointing us in the right direction. From the get go, I felt at home and relaxed. The family room was spotless and ideal for what we needed. A very warm weekend, but not a drama, decent fans were provided in the rooms. The bar and restaurant facilities, the friendly staff and decent quality of food and drink selection absolutely made our weekend. Our young daughter was a bit dubious about coming, but she loved it!! Apologies to anyone nearly tripping over her on the floor as she went about perfecting her camera skills in the various areas of the club. For a first visit, it exceeded everything, now looking at when we can come back.
My first visit although I have been a member for a while. I had a lovely visit. My room was perfect, wonderfully clean and just right. The food was good. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was most helpful and friendly.Rooms: 5/5
Immaculate!!! What an amazing place, perfect for veterans and serving members of the Military. The rooms are absolutely spotless and super comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay. Rooms: Immaculate
Unlike any other hotel, this place really feels like a home away from home. The staff are very professional and hardworking, especially the servers in the restaurant and there is a real sense of community here. We got a room on the 20th floor and the views are unmatched in central London for a hotel of this price point. The price is literally unbeatable in this part of London and being across the road from Waterloo station we were able to travel to any part of the city with ease, I hope to be back again soon.
I've stayed a couple of times. The bedrooms are ridiculously hot. We had breakfast the next morning and the restaurant was also far too hot. The air-conditioning was either broken in here or just didn't exist. The location is fantastic. The rooms are clean. Rooms: Far too hot. Probably good in the winter
Although a member of The Union Jack Club for many years I am very dismayed to find constant unavailable of accommodation due to the amount of members of The House of Lords booking in advance and being allocated accommodation at the deprivation of paying club members, especially as the aforementioned are not members of the club and receive £310.00 per day expenses! I thought the club was first and foremost for the benefit of members of The Armed Forces and Veterans!!!
Having not been back to the UJC since the mid 80’s it was a complete blast back to my younger years whilst still serving and always my place to stay when I was on weekenders in London! Still just the best welcome anywhere in London and truly as they say ‘ a London home away from home’. Wonderful facilities and everyone has a smile on their face. Exceptional service that puts many a 5 star city hotel to utter shame. Same values I remember all those years ago. So glad I re acquainted myself with such a wonderful place. Met some lovely folk and remembered what keeps service people such a special group of individuals. Thank you for a wonderful albeit short trip and without doubt! I will be back very soon. Rooms: Comfortable, impeccably clean and everything you need. Food & drinks: Breakfast: Unbeatable…
We had our wedding reception at the UJC as well as staying in the spacious flats and Coventry Suite which has great air con! over the wedding weekend. The events team and all staff across the club were absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to help ensure our event went as smoothly as possible. The Gascoigne room where we had our reception is very nicely decorated and held our 50 guests and dancefloor beautifully. Rooms: Nice and functional. Food & drinks: Very reasonably priced, especially for an event.
Have stopped here on many occasions whilst visiting London. Always had a perfect stay with comfortable rooms, excellent food and exemplary staff who look after you. On my last visit I met a former colleague who now lives in the USA whom I served with....we met at breakfast....it was though we were still serving together....this is the unique hallmark of this absolutely amazing establishment. He just happened to choose the same weekend as me..... We enjoy the UJC very much and support it as often as we possibly can. So much so, that we are staying over during Christmas 2024. Thank you everyone for keeping the UJC running so smoothly, we look forward to seeing you all soon.
First time of staying overnight, and sad to say it was disappointing. Good & bad to report. Firstly the bad, the room was SO hot, but we overlooked that, but not having a decent sleep was our main issue. Room doors banging randomly during the night. Noisy pipework began at around 0600hrs and continued until we finally couldn't take anymore and got up early! Along with the hot room, we just didn't sleep well at all and were both shattered the next day. The good. Cleanliness & food. Both were very good. Obviously being veterans, we love all thinks UJC and what it stands for. Unfortunately however, we won't be staying overnight again, but may frequent the restaurant & bar. Travel Lodge in comparison is much better for a good night's sleep! Over and out.
