Researching the history of Linskill School. North Shields
Heritage Lottery funding is enabling the community to research, document and archive Linskill School’s history, from its opening in 1932 to its closure in 1984.
To achieve this Linskill Life invites past pupils and previous school staff to share their school photos, press cuttings or other school memorabilia, and to share their memories and anecdotes about life at Linskill, so that the school’s history may be captured and conserved, and the community’s relationship with the school can be celebrated.
The project will build on previous research, and will source, research and reference new material to be shared across social media, be displayed at a celebratory event at the end of the project (Sept 2015!) and be deposited with local and regional archives when research is complete.
The project will also revisit the 1949 film “Life at Linskill” to create a new film that will recapture the era, by working in association with ACT2CAM young film makers based at The Linskill Centre.
