Love this place. Great vibes. Definitely get there early and bring cash for the cover charge. Excellent musicians. Do wish they would have a word with people on the way in to remind them not to be loud/ disruptive when the music is being played. Would love to try the food here some day.
Nostalgic old skool venue that oozes traditions of the old London music scene. The food is fabulous and definitely worth a try for a indulgent lunch.Food: 5/5
Amazing venue with a unique style and very focused on music. The musicians who play at Troy bar are elite. I'm a regular at Troy bar on Thursdays reggae, definitely the best live reggae bar in London and probably the only one. I've seen some amazing musicians there including Junior Marvin, former the weillers guitar player. Definitely one of a kind bar in London. The jerk chicken is a must if you ever visit this bar. Wheelchair accessibility: It's on a street level floor with wide doors. Easy access.
Quite literally the cheapest and best carribean food you will get if you get the lunch combo specials. Always come here for my lunch specials, the jerk chicken and grilled fish are the best. It even comes with plantain and salads, with no extra cost.Food: 5/5
Band was awesome!!!! We went on a Tuesday and the musicans are simply amazing, they made my night I would give the band 5 stars if I could. Food was tasty, not a big menu but the food was nice. Lady serving the food was lovely and bar staff were good too. They don't take cash upon entry or for food but card at the bar, so walk with cash. Decor needs some work and didn't make sense where they had some tables and chairs as the security was constantly asking guests to move in for H&S. Toilets need attention as they were awful.
Lovely place to witness some quality live music from the house band. Definitely pay a visit if you’re into live music. Only con is the bouncers which can be rude and disrespectful sometimes. Note that it is a cash only venue.
my go-to place for takeaway lunch. the Jerk Chicken one is wonderful, and it just 7.5 pound, and comes with salad. The food is in big portion. thanks for the one who work hard for ordering and preparing the food. The name I knew is Satomi, she is a Japanese who takes our food orders.
What a fantastic place! The live music and overall vibe are really worth it. There is a cover charge for the concerts, but it’s relatively small less than the cost of a drink and it is really good value for the experience you get.Service: 5/5
Would not recommend at all. My partner and I arrived about 30 minutes after their opening time on Saturday, and everything was shut. Eventually an unfriendly bouncer came out and said they're not open yet and to go back in 20 minutes. We went back at 9pm and they were finally open, an hour late. The unfriendly bouncer told us to open our bags for any alcohol, we just had water, and he wasn't explaining why we weren't allowed to take it in. Luckily my boyfriend had been there before and knew of their "no liquids" policy, but it's the bouncer's job to explain that. Finally went in, enquired about food at the bar and they said they don't serve food on the weekend, which isn't stated anywhere on their website. It was 9pm, we hadn't had dinner yet as this was there we planned to eat with some live music, so we just left and went elsewhere. The bar staff were also somewhat uninviting too. Overall a pretty awful experience, and I definitely will not be going there again. I'm sure there are better places for live Jazz music in East London that are better organised and more inviting.
This place is what the London music scene is all about! Banging performances, friendly, engaging crowd, intimate atmosphere with good energy and good vibes! First time to TroyBar and a first time traveller to London, England from Toronto, Canada. An amazing experience. Thank you fam in London for hosting us and introducing me to TroyBar. And the jerk chicken was delicious!
