Suspicious stains on the headboard and side of the bed, stained bedsheets, and a broken off zip pull In the bedding that wasn't from us! Not to mention the very loud noise that happened at random intervals throughout the night keeping us both awake - sounded like pipes or plumbing. Pretty disgusting. Definitely won't be staying in a Travelodge again!
Visiting friends in Chelmsford so booked in for one night luckily.nParked in the car park behind - £7.50 for 24hrs from arrival time which seemed reasonable - pay at machine or via app.nEntrance lobby, lifts and general decor needs a bit of TLC.nReception & bar staff were friendly.nWe arrived during happy hour so 2 for 1 on selected drinks!nRoom was a bit tired but functional, luckily it was not on the road side of the building - which I think would have been a very different experience.nBeds were clean, although the pillows smelt a bit musty.nOne towel was clean but stained.nBottom line... we wouldn't chose to stay here again - there's better options for the price.
I have been in the hotel only one night.nThe room was clean, worm, and welcoming. Only 30 minutes of WiFi, then you have to pay, and there is no water fountain, so coffee and tea bags are free, but you have to pay 2.5 pounds for 500 mls water. But I enjoy my stay.
RoomsnFront hotel rooms are too light due to poor curtains, with a roundabouts flood lights exposing the huge gaps that light up the room. Half the TV channels weren't available, apparently due to the rain. It also costs you another £7.50 per night in parking fees to stay here with a vehicle.nnExperience.nAppalling treatment on 3 occasions. These were due to issues between the booking company and TL and the system they use. Twice I was not allowed the pre-booked meal allowance, 1 because the card was declined due to the system, and 2 because of a boiler breakdown which I understood was not their fault. This was over three consecutive nights of me staying, so two out of three nights I got no meal. But worse was that even after my employer had spoken to the manager about the food allowance and they knew that the above was due to a system problem not lack of funds, I was left for two nights with nowhere to stay due to the same issue. And on the second occasion they'd given me a room only to knock on my door and tell me that I needed to go to reception because of the ongoing issues. When I chucked the room card on the counter as I walked away I was asked are you checking out and then accused of throwing it at them CCTV proves otherwise. If I'd thrown it at them it would have hit them, and they then wouldn't have offered me to stay if I paid out of my own pocket. Two of TL closest rivals acted totally different on both those occasions on those nights, allowing my colleagues to stay and sorting it out in the morning. I wouldn't pay a penny to stay here after this, and have never been treated like this anywhere in all my years of working away. And this after already staying there for ten nights. I won't be staying at a TL ever again.
It is a travel lodge and that's what you get. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the food was fresh, hot and tasty. The hotel is above shops and we were on the very top floor, the hotel is on a busy road as you can see from the photos taken from our window but inside you wouldn't know. We slept well. The staff worked hard and the place reflected this. There is an Aldi market and B+M across the road and it's an easy walk into the centre of town. We would stay here again.
