"Housed in one of Stamford's oldest, most interesting buildings dating back to the 13th century, this lovingly restored pub has a quirky yet traditional feel and is certainly one not to be missed.Dating back to 1280, the building was once owned by a bell-maker called Tobie Norris and made into a bell foundry. With 3 floors and 7 rooms for you to explore, it is now a unique and enchanting pub offering delicious food using locally sourced ingredients, a fantastic range of real ales and a great selection of wines."

A great place for meeting with family and friends. The food is top notch and well presented, you wont be dissapointed. During our visit the staff were accommodating and helpful, the building itself is full of character and is a nice retreat. They are dog friendly and provided our dog with water and treats.
Had a fab Sunday roast. Our waitress, Penny was amazing and was telling us some stories about the building. It’s so gorgeous inside, like stepping back in time. Would definitely love to return when I’m next in the area.
Fabulous historic building close to Stamford Endowed School. Rambling series of rooms with feature beams, rising up two floors. Very popular, good choice of real ales and wines, in line with general Stamford prices. If looking for food which is very good, booking is advised.
Table booked for 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon. The service was very slow, with the starter coming out 1 hour after we arrived. The upside is the food is excellent t and well worth waiting for. If the service had been better, it certainly would have been 5 stars.
We really enjoyed the 2 pizza and a bottle of wine deal for £35. Found a lovely strong ale on tap if that's your thing. Interesting pup with lots of small rooms. The conservatory seating area opposite the bar was perfect for people watching .
Fantastic staff- lovely atmosphere , clean, cosy, smart and very homely. Busy but team on duty were amazing. All intelligent and interested in helping you have a good time. Live a way away or I'd be in there as a regular. We will be back as it truly was a spectacular pub. Real nice customer base too. Can't praise it enough.
We were on a day visit to Stamford, traipsing round the market very good by the way and various charity shops also very good needing somewhere for a reviving pint of bitter shandy old ladies, taking it steady!!. Came upon the Tobie Norris by some miracle of happenstance. the shandy was fantastic real ale and the atmosphere in this ancient building was great. Decided to try the food and so glad we did as it was the best bacon, Brie and cranberry focaccia sandwich I have ever had. The people staffing the pub were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, answering our questions about the building, etc. If you are in this town look this pub up - you won’t be sorry!
Eat with history around you. Tastefully decorated. Highly recommended.Food: 5/5
A very old pub dating from the 1200s. We went on a Wednesday night and it was full and buzzing. They don’t take same day reservations so it’s probably advisable to book ahead if possible to be on the safe side.. We had a table in the upstairs room which was much quieter. We were having a four day break in Stamford where there are eating places a plenty but very few seem to serve many vegetables with their dishes- it seems to be salad or just peas. As someone who always eats at least three different vegetables with a main meal I was feeling their loss! At my request this pub very kindly added extra vegetables to my sea bass dish and everything was very tasty and cooked to perfection - I couldn’t fault a thing. My husband had the beef in red wine pie and was equally pleased. Unfortunately I don’t think we will be back that way for some time but I would heartedly recommend. From observation it looked to be a well used drinking pub with a popular landlord.
Absolutely delicious Sunday roast. We were on a weekend break in Stamford and wanted somewhere good for a roast. I went with The Tobie Norris based on reviews and boy was it a good decision. Chicken sharer for 2 was simply divine and was a huge portion! Staff really welcoming and attentive, checking in on us regularly. Really relaxed vibe, busy but warm and cosy. Lots of lovely dogs welcomed, with treats on every counter top! Loos were very clean and tidy, lovely White Company hand wash and creams which smelt incredible. We will definitely be back when we next visit the area. Thank you!
