Stopped in for a swift pint this afternoon. The new management have really made this quite a pleasant pub. Particularly they have freshened up the atmosphere with a lot of new artwork and design touches. The place is very tidy and the beer is maintained well. Good array of games also. The upstairs is now a nice dining area with room for children. I'll be back in future to give the food a go.
What a lovely little gem, it's very rare to find such a lovely old welcoming pub that still maintains that original old English pub vibe. The staff are lovely and the beer is fantastic it feels like a little village pub in a very busy town. There's an open fire too for a cold day I couldn't of enjoyed my pint more & The staff are absolutely lovely.
An absolute gem. I visited this charming pub with her indoors and a fine ninety-eight year old friend in a wheelchair. First impressions are so important, and as one of the regulars held open the door for us with a welcoming smile, we immediately felt at home. The staff were very friendly and, although they don’t serve Guinness, the house stout was a very nice substitute. The food was very well presented and my fish and chips was as good as any I have tasted. When the locals heard ninety-eight year old George had been in the RAF during World War Two with one of the town’s local characters Harry Cottrell he became the toast of the pub. It made George’s week. I would like to thank the staff for the welcome and their well kept beer and excellent food and hope they will pass on our heartfelt best wishes to those regulars who made an old man feel so very happy. I hope we have the chance to bring him back to this wonderful place again. My very best regards to you all.
Met the new owners who seemed really nice, they have lots of new ideas for the pub, they made us feel really welcome. They do some really nice ciders and a great mixture of others drinks. They have1 pool table now and a rule to limit yourself to 3 games, which is good if there are loads of people waiting. Good luck to Carolyn and Collin.
Good proper boozer!! Dart board although the doubles and trebles did t seem to work!!, Pool table and really good value Samuel Smith beers and ciders. Love this place. Always pop in when in Stamford.
I would have given it a higher score if they were doing food. They have the sign saying that they are doing food but when I asked I was told that they will not be serving food until December of this year 2018. I did say they should cover the sign, but thats up to them. It's a nice place just a shame about not doing food. Good atmosphere.
The Vaults could do with brightening up and making it look a little more inviting. The landlord and lady were very welcoming and I enjoyed two nice pints. I will certainly go back again.
Visited Stamford for the day and dropped into this pub... twice! Lovely staff, parked next to the beautiful roaring fire and got chatting to the locals. Excellent example of a Sam Smiths pub done right!
Good atmosphere, drink selection and staff seemed friendly to us. However we could hear the landlord shouting at his wife - he's lost our custom.
We missed the Sunday lunch rush as we arrived after 2:30pm and had the place to ourselves! Cosy pub, lovely fresh food prepared to order and a good range of beers. Would recommend this place.
