Loved everything about this pub: a gorgeous, characterful building, great interior decor, friendly and helpful staff and absolutely fabulous homemade food. A lot of the ingredients are locally sourced, some from literally just down the road. Oh, and they're dog friendly too! Highly recommended.
Pub in Uffington stopped in for lunch on Saturday. There was a little wait for a table but it was worth it in the end. We had a lovely table and very pleasant friendly with staff. The food was excellent and came piping hot. Prices may be a little steep for some people, but it’s worth the food quality, we are looking forward to going back for their fish night, steak night or pie night. It’s very worth a stop in
Can't comment on the food as the power went out as soon as we arrived and they closed the kitchen ... Lovely old proper English pub but the lady at the bar went into such a flap I thought she would fly out the door .. it was just an outage love it happens sometimes ... Made me think of Basil Faulty ...Service: 2/5
It would have been five stars in every category however the six bird feeders around the garden were empty and had not been filled for some time! But we had a few hours to fill between appointments at Stamford Hospital one in the morning and a scarey two hour MRI Session late afternoon. It all went well.... Presentation is top rate, pretty barmaid who really knew her stuff. They were a Chef short on our lunchtime visit but still expedited the orders as fast as possible. Loos were SPOTLESS! It's a premium offer both in Bar and Food Service but I'd say well worth it. Book ahead as the locals seem to bulk book well ahead so not too many tables for walk ins. I'll be back and hopefully the missing star will be reinstated and the local bird population suitably fed....
Really good pub and good. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, great food. Only slight criticism is they could have had another real ale or two.Food: 5/5
Nice food bit over cooked... long wait due to only 1 chef on..Birtie dirty fries nice but could of been abit more moist kids sausage and mash spot on... fish finger sandwiche little over doneFood: 4/5
Cozy place. Food was delicious, especially truffle fries.Food: 5/5
Great spot for a family lunch. We had some classics such as fish and chips, bangers and mash and pie, mash and gravy as well as some not so classic dishes which did not disappoint. The monkfish scampi was good but the star of the show was the Crispy Chilli Beef Bao Buns, they were fantastic.
What an amazing experience, we walked in with our 19 month little boy and were met with a warm welcome from the landlords, beautiful pub with fire and cosy bar. We were upstairs in a lovely room with other families which made us feel at ease. Food, drink and service was wonferful. Thoroughly recommend visiting and cant wait to revisit in summer.
Had a lovely lunch in a beautiful old building, with really friendly staff. It's easy to see why it's so popular. Definitely worth booking a table if you are on a lunch break as you could wait a while otherwise
