Love this place….but it has to be in the quieter morning hours, so you can really enjoy the experience of looking around and finding some very interesting and good stuff.nThis particular one is massive and definitely worth a visit.
I recently visited the TK Maxx store and left feeling extremely disappointed. From the moment I walked in, the experience was underwhelming. Almost every item I picked up felt cheap, dated, and far from appealing. The store gave me the impression of a second-hand shop rather than a reputable retailer.nnTo make things worse, the pricing was absurd. For example, I saw a Tommy Hilfiger jacket priced at £130 — the exact same jacket can be purchased brand new and in perfect condition at a Tommy Hilfiger store for less. Nothing in the shop felt worth the price; in fact, most items seemed like they should be sold for pennies, not pounds.nnThe staff only added to the disappointment. One employee standing by the watch counter was on his phone, clearly engaged in personal chatting. When I politely asked him to assist me with viewing a watch, his response was: “Ask someone else, I’m not free.” This level of rudeness and disinterest is completely unacceptable, especially when he was doing nothing productive.nnOverall, this was a ridiculous shopping experience. With so many amazing stores on Oxford Street, I strongly recommend skipping TK Maxx entirely and buying directly from brand stores instead. At least there, you get genuine products, fair prices, and respectful customer service
During a recent family trip to London, I visited the TK Maxx store on Oxford Street with my 8-year-old daughter. While inside the accessible fitting room, a fire alarm was triggered and the store was completely evacuated — but no one came to check the fitting rooms. My daughter was in her underwear at the time, and we were completely unaware of what was happening. We only realized something was wrong when the floor went silent and I noticed a burning smell. I quickly helped her get dressed and ran out with her in my arms.nnOutside, my wife was trying to alert the staff that her husband and daughter were still inside, but received no assistance. This was not a drill — it was a terrifying situation that could have ended tragically.nnThe next day, despite the emotional impact, I returned to the store with my wife to retrieve the items we had selected — but none had been set aside. A staff member told me everything had been returned to the racks. We still made a purchase of £218, even though we couldn’t find everything again.nnI shared all of this with customer service and requested fair compensation of £1,000 for the trauma and loss. Their only response was to offer a £50 gift card — which I cannot even use, since I live in Brazil.nnAs a father and a tourist, I am deeply disappointed by the way this was handled. TK Maxx claims to prioritise customer safety, but this incident — and their response — shows otherwise.
Don't waste time at new Marble Arch Oxford Street shop, THIS shop is the better one, better stock, FULL range and better organised.nnIt is Oxford Street though so don't expect staff to have all the time in the world to answer a billion questions as this store is ALWAYS BIZ-AY... Seriously midweek 7PM or Weekend Midday this shop I never see even remotely quiet, for all the reasons above.nnSome TK's are good some are not, this happens to be a good one on a very busy street. Always worth a visit and out of about 20 TKMaxx shops I shop at this is easily top tier...nn... Ones I avoid as they just have poor stock, don't have the full range, or are dull or badly laid out are,nnUxbridge CRAMPEDnMarble Arch NO HOME DEPT/DULLnWatford Harlequin DULLnHigh Street Kensington DULLnWestfield London TO SMALL MISSED OPPORTUNITY ONLY TAKING ONE FLOOR IF FORMER DEBENHAMSnnThe BEST TK's I like arenHammersmith HUGE/GREAT STOCKnOxford Street GREAT STOCK, ATMOSPHERE ORGANISEDnHayes Grapes retail park SPACIOUS GREAT STOCKnKew GREAT STOCK, SPACIOUS, TIDYnnAll the other shops I've been to are on the better side of middling.
The store was overcrowded, messy and the queue was too long for the till. I found the staff unhelpful too and the prices in the store were not that good anyway.nnWhen I went to pay for the items I spent more than 20 minutes in the queue which was ridiculous! They only had two members of staff serving and one kept walking off, there were plenty of staff on the shop floor that could have opened up a till but didn’t; no sense of urgency.nnI’d never visit this store again as the visit I had was awful! I wouldn’t recommend this location to friends and family and I’d discourage you from going.
