I really love shopping at Johnl Lewis. I have been shopping with them for almost 15 years and not actually disappointed at all. They just really nice, the stuffs are good quality and value. I love their every day dinning chair, bought 2 times totally 12 of them, all in grey. Very sturdy and well looks.
John Lewis is Oxford Circus amazing department store, in Londons west end with thousands of different products in many sections such as clothing, electronics etc,nwe entered ground floor entrance. I noticed the perfume area, as we strolled through the store, feeling quite peckish, from previous visits to the store had knowledge that they served hot food and beverages and had also been and had tea and cake which is amazing it was now time to try John Lewis‘s hot, my friend wanted to try fish and chips, and I felt to go for the leek and soup, I also wanted to try chunky chips and the fresh bread roll, the first waitress who served us behind the fish and chips counter was a Oriental lady, who ignored us twice, and then walked off to the back when we wanted to order.nThe second lady serving the hot food was super friendly.nShe even helped us carry the food tray to the table she was amazing and very helpfulnMy friend also ordered a pot of tea and I had water.nUnfortunately, the cod was very cold. The chips were nice and warm. My soup was piping hot. I feel sometimes I’m lucky because I seem to always get the good end of the meal. We shared the breadstick. I asked my friend how his fish was he told me it’s okay It’s edible. The taste must’ve been nice, but it was a bit cold,nI wanted my friend to taste the soup and let him share some of my soup in a separate bowl.nAlthough he did manage to finish the fish chip peas and the butter bread I gave him,nI really enjoyed my soup, It was tasty fresh hot full of flavour the bread was soft and fresh with my favourite butter Anchor, my friend told me his Tea was amazing, the and sandwich options healthy options will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes again. The pie looked amazing, and we decided to go for some desserts as this was John Lewis speciality, last time we had the double chocolate cake which was amazing and we stuck to one of the favourites cherry and raisin cake as it was so good.nThe cake was so delicious and perfectly baked soft filling of vanilla cherry sauce was dreamy we both enjoyed the water very hydrating after the cake.
Despite saying they close at 9, they closed at 6. The doorman pictured TSS security was obnoxious when I told him I’d travelled 2 hours to come. No apology, no explanation, just a smugness.
First time we made it and were very much positivly surprised. Very nice displays, friendly stuff and sesonal offerings. Prices are good. I recommend the wine bar on level 5. Chose your preferred bottle from a great variety.
We have bought school shoes from John Lewis for our kids for many years. The last 2 years has been a complete and utter shambles. Despite going instore to get the child’s feet measured and buying the shoes we chose we were given the wrong size 2 years running. Last year we had a totally uninterested member of staff measure the child’s feet and tell us that the size required was out of stock and so the store ordered them for us. When the shoes arrived they were like ‘boats’, and 2 SIZES TOO BIG! We then wasted a day to return the shoes, get another appointment for the feet to be re measured and purchase the shoes again. This year, we went instore again and had the feet measured by a friendly and helpful member of staff this time. The child complained that the shoes were too tight but the staff member didn’t check the fitting and told us it’s ’because the shoes are new’. I asked twice if the shoes were the correct width and size as we required a wide fit and staff member confirmed it was a wide fit.nHowever, upon returning home and checking the shoes it turned out that they were in fact NOT a wide fit but a standard fit. So another day and further travel costs wasted to return the shoes for a refund. As there wasn’t another pair in stock we had to order online. Staff instore were not that helpful or friendly and I had to chase with numerous emails and calls to at least get something back towards travel costs due to the shoes being sold to us in the wrong box showing a different size to its contents. Although I was given something TOWARDS the travel I was left out of pocket and 2 days were wasted for journeys back and forth to the store as we are not local.nNext year we will be buying our shoes elsewhere as this is totally unacceptable and even more unacceptable that the manager I saw when returning the shoes refused to assist me with the partial travel costs I’d already been offered by staff. His manner was totally lacking, unprofessional and definitely not customer friendly. I’d asked him where the toilets where on my first visit and he seemed rather hostile. Definitely not what we’re used to as regular JL customers for many years. The customer service for JL has defintely ‘slumped’ to what it used to be. I don’t think this will be our ‘go to’ store in future for the many purchases we’ve made here over the years. Such a shame as it’s a simple ‘staff training’ issue that could be easily rectified for many of the issues customers described in these reviews. Ours is not an isolated issue so it’s a shame that JL do not seem to be bothered by these reviews on board to addres the issues described. Customers will vote with their feet and their spending. Certainly not good for business in any way, shape or form.
