Amazing food and great place overall. We booked a table online with ease although many places around were fully booked. For starters we had prawns cocktail fresh oysters. For the main course we had seafood sharing platter. All was fresh and very tasty.
Really nice pub. Easily the best in Christchurch in my opinion. Really great atmosphere, live music most nights, good beer. Prices are similar to any other local pub really, certainly not even close to London prices as some reviews suggest. Had the beef burger twice with the chutney in it and it’s definitely either best or close to best burger I’ve had in a pub. Haven’t had the roast yet but have seen it when in on a Sunday and it looks amazing. Staff also really nice and quick! My go to pub :
I have been in this lovely pub for the first time. We had a warm fish platter and fish n chips... Haven't enjoyed food like this for looong time. Everything was absolutely divine! Charming staff and beautiful ambiance! Definitely coming back soon! Oh, did I mention the FOOD Highly recommended!
Very large traditional pub with a large outdoor area. Named after a well known local smuggler who was finally arrested in the pub in the early 17th century before eventually being taken to the Tower of London to be hanged. The food is of a higher quality than some of the other Christchurch pubs and the service was friendly. Well kept ales and a good choice of other drinks.
Fantastic pub with top quality food and wonderful staff. We booked easily online a table for 4 plus dog. The dog had a biscuit and water laid out for him :. We were super impressed with the selection on the fish platter. What really stood out for us were the staff. We had a medical drama whilst we were there and had to call an ambulance. The staff were so helpful, kind and compassionate to us. Thankyou
Lovely food, will go again
25 of the local RNLI committee and collectors had a great Fish and Chip supper here last night. The fish was delicious and the batter superb, the chips were crispy, and the Mushy Peas delightful. The staff were friendly and attentive especially Poppy. Well Done Thomas Tripp a wonderful evening. The Ringwood 49er was in wonderful condition, a beautiful beer.
I’ve seen some really good musicians at the Tripp and always have a good night. Friendly crowd and fast service. Sunday afternoons music session is a great way to end the weekend.
I love the Tripp, great music and good food. The staff are friendly and the outside area is great. Just one thing please improve the women’s toilets they are disgusting.
I enjoy the live music and good draught beer. I haven’t eaten there for a while but the food looks good.
