This is a free museum that has multiple masterpieces such as; portraits, rare books and personal belongings to the 3 great writers, that changed the history of scottish literature; sir Walter Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson and Robert Burns.
Just not for me. I didn't know what to expect but can't say I'm surprised. A range of random artefacts from the three authors on display along with some historical insights and information. If you like any of the authors then maybe you will get more out of it than I did. I did like the building for it's architecture
Well worth it if you're a lit nerd. It's a cool location, in a very cool house, with some fantastic artifacts from Scotland's most revered writers. They even have Robbie Burns' writing desk! The entire thing can be comfortably experienced in 30 minutes or less.
Great information regarding the lives of the most important Scottish poets can be found here. I loved the visit!
The writers' museum is free and houses a great deal of artifacts relevant to three of the greatest writers in history. It's a quiet spot in an area full of tourists, but it shares with us things worth remembering.
Modestly sized museum dedicated to three famous writers among others of Scottish descent. Interesting but not an essential place to visit unless you're particularly interested in this area of Scottish history. The building itself is very nice to look at and located in a quieter area behind the royal mile.
