We had a superb evening meal here, beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The landlord and staff are amazing and couldn't do enough for us, I'll remember our evening for a long time and will definitely be returning as often as possible to try the rest of the mouthwatering menu! The place itself is also beautiful inside and out, and spotlessly clean. Thanks guys for making it so special!
Lovely place, lovely staff, lovely owners - AMAZING FOOD Really enjoyed a relaxed evening in a place with an up market feel. The food was so good and the portion sizes were awesome !!! Definitely worth a visitFood: 5/5
I was staying at The Worsley Cottage Guest House and the proprietors mentioned that The Wortley Arms had changed hands and mentioned that it was good. Well I wasn't disappointed. I was welcomed at the bar with a smiling face and a warm welcome. I inquired if they had a table for one and I was shown to my tablet, all in a professional manner. The menu is not vast which I like, as I always think that with a limited menu that the food will be of good quality and fresh, and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Derbyshire Pie. The pie was very tasty and the vegetables were hot and good. The whole experience was good, friendly and professional. Right, would I recommend and come again. A Definite YES. If you are in the area, I would recommend trying here. If you like my honest review please follow me as I have a lot and regular review venues.
We were seated in a room out of the main bar area which granted us a nice quiet, relaxing experience. Drink and food were served quickly after being ordered. Everyone in our party of 6 opted for a Sunday roast. All three meat options of beef, lamb & chicken were selected and served amongst the 6 of us. No complaints at all. Generous servings and all well cooked. Desserts were very good too.
I used to visit Wortley Arms when I was younger and always remember the food being very good. It was the second time tonight visiting under new management of Mcgilverays - the service was exceptional. Wendy came round to each table explaining the specials and having a general chat, really friendly. As well as Alan, he asked how the food was. Made a massive difference them both being a part of the service. Great atmosphere and all staff were friendly and attentive. Food was amazing and will definitely be visiting again.
McGilverys always was the best fish and chips when they were located in Fox Valley. Their recent move to The Wortley Arms was a good enough reason to take my parents there for their 55th wedding anniversary. Good to report that the fish and chips are still absolutely amazing Mum said the pie was wonderful too. All the very best wishes to Wendy and Alan for their new venture. Absolutely, we'll be back.
We both had the steak tonight. We like it rare. It came nicely presented with chips onion rings and a mushroom. Having rare steak you’d expect it to melt in the mouth wouldn’t you? Tough as shoe leather. I did say to the waitress it was tough. She just said it’s because it’s rare. Wrong!!! We won’t be going there againFood: 2/5
Out and about today and stumbled on this place by accident. Went in and were greeted by a lovely guy who was friendly and polite the whole way through our meal. The food was really lovely couldn't fault it at all. The portions were great, and one thing I will say is that their coffee is actually hot. Thank you. If we are ever in the area again, we will be back xx
Great place, some of the food wasn’t overly hot which was disappointingFood: 4/5
We have been coming to this pub for longer than I care to remember. It was always good. Jamie was a talent. It has now changed hands, and I feel totally deflated after our visit this evening. I ordered a 10oz ribeye steak from the specials board; £28 looked good value. The problem was it was quite the worst steak I have had in several years. I pointed this out to the waitress when she collected our plates. She said "I should have said something earlier." I would have, if they had checked during the meal if everything was OK! A quick way to destroy a reputation!
