The staff are lovely and very helpful. The view is really the only reason to visit, it is stunning. We have been twice now and both times left somewhat surprised by the standard of the food! It definitely looks the part but the burger I had was dry and very tough and the steak my husband had was more gristle than meat, also it was very salty. The chicken wings were dry and the only flavour was spice from the habanero sauce. The sweetcorn fritters starter I had was the only good thing about the meal.nUnfortunately, there was a group of people who came in, not long after we'd ordered, and proceeded upset almost everybody else in the building due to their extremely loud and trashy nature. If we hadn't already ordered, we would have left.
A spontaneous visit to Portishead with a great walk were we found this pub was perfect for a sunny afternoon. The prawn cocktail with a side of fries was perfect. The staff welcomed our dogs like long lost friends with biscuits and water...If you are in the area this is the perfect spot with views outside out to the sea.
Came for Sunday lunch, booked in advance. Great accessibility in the Restaurant with a lift to restaurant area, however the slope outside is very steep!nnWe ordered drinks and they took about 20 mins to come. They took our food order in meantime. The food came in good time and was hot and tasty. The roast was good for the value but the sides of cauliflower cheese, broccoli and sausages were very expensive for the price and average.nnHowever, the meal really went down hill when we ordered 5 standard drinks which took 35 minutes to come, we asked 3 times where they were. They we ordered dessert and it was not that great and over priced.nnWould maybe come back for a drink in the summer but probably wouldn’t pay the price to eat here again. The staff were working hard but they need to get more servers.
First visited last year and had the Sunday Lunch. it was disappointing to be honest.nnWe visited earlier this week and thought we would try the main menu.nnThe chicken wing starter was 1/5 as the meat was dry, tough and chewy.nnI had steak for my main course. The chef cooked it well but it was over seasoned, it was incredibly salty. There were too many gristly and non chewable bits sadly. The chips were ok and the peppercorn sauce was good.nnThe atmosphere was terrible on our second visit. There was a group of loud girls who had no class and felt the whole restaurant needed to know their silly life dramas.nnOn another table there was a couple and we had to endure the rude excuse of a gentleman berating his wife as she couldn't remember a life event.nnThis isn't the Windmill's fault or course and I'm sure they would have preferred not to have had such guests.nnI don't like to give negative reviews but feel I have to be honest. I will leave it with the positives though.nnThe lady at the bar was lovely and welcoming.nnThe waitress who served us was also lovely and looked after us well.nnThe place was very clean.nnThe views are incredible, looking over the Bristol channel and fields.nnThe one pint of Peroni I had was lovely and refreshing.nnWe wouldn't have food here again but would definitely return to have drinks.
One of a highly cost effective restaurant I’ve ever been. Nice view, the waitress Joanne is very smart and friendly, serving us so well. The food was delicious, big portions and more favour than we expected. The sausage is pretty good as the sauce is very good. At last the delicious by having lime cheesecake and the ice creams with 2 favours dark chocolate and salty caramel perfectly matched. The only thing I’d like to recommend is the beef, a little bit overcooked.
