Lovely stop off while travelling through the new forest. It was a , so it was a mid afternoon, so, we only snacked. However, we could see the food being brought out to others. We could hear the delight of other customers. We will go back in an evening and see how we feel then.Food: 5/5
Lovely forest pub with a good atmosphere. Had an excellent Sunday lunch of Turkey and Roast beef with their signature Yorkshire pudding with a sausage and pat of stuffing inside. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good value for money.Food: 5/5
Very disappointed in this place the service was good but the food was not good, our mains which was Mac & Cheese with Garlic bread was tasteless apart from the chicken on top which was nice and the desserts were awful, we paid £10 for a strawberry and raspberry Eaton mess which was very badly presented with hardly any fruit 1 strawberry Slop in a bowl. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place.
Beaulieu has a shortage of pubs which is a shame as the village is lovely, so your next best bet is the Royal Oak. You’ll get the vibe the second you drive into the car park. It’s fine, nothing special and nothing bad. The bar area certainly isn’t cosy or traditional in any sense and is purely geared up for food, the large garden was nice enough but you feel like you are missing all the amazing views you can see in the car park. The food was fine, portions are huge so bear that in mind and the staff are very friendly and attentive. My only one complaint but this is happening across the UK so not isolated to this pub, are the prices were way too high for the quality of food. £8.99 for a cheese and pickle sandwich is a bit much! Vegetarian options: Clearly marked menu with V, Ve and GF options which was nice to see.
Very nice pub in the new forest. Great car park, welcome to sit and have lunch, nice protocol, tasty food with lots of sauces in the plate and good service having the attention you just need. Clean restaurant and beautifil decoration. Very recommended.
It's taken me a few days how to leave a negative review as I've never had a bad meal here and staff are normally very good. So it was a Sunday afternoon and we booked s table for 4.00pm. We were both looking forward to a nice Sunday roast but it was the complete opposite. When you're spending close to £25.00 for a Roast beef dinner with s side of Cauliflower Cheese when ordering i was told they could only do Cauliflower/ Broccoli cheese which i was happy with you're expecting a very good quality meal. The wife ordered the lamb by the way. The meal came out and I was speechless. The 1 slice of beef was a large wafer thin slice like out of a frozen tray, the roast potatoes were tough to cut and tasted like they had been sat there for hours, the Yorkshire pudding was very good, sausage meat stuffing was very gristly as was the chipolata and the seasonal vegetables of cabbage, carrots and peas were OK. The Cauliflower/ Broccoli cheese was sent back as they were obviously frozen as there was no cheese but a large amount of water in the bowl instead. I ended up eating just the 1 potato, the veg and Yorkshire pudding, the chipolata was chucked onto a side plate with the sausage meat stuffing, just awful. It wasn't that busy so I was surprised that we weren't asked how was the food. It didn't all go to waste as the wife finished most of it. We were happy to pay buy the quality of the products they use really is poor and will make me think again using one of this group of pubs again. My advice, do not waste your money on a roast dinner, certainly not value for money but spend it in one of the large carvery pubs sprinkled all around us. Finally, the staff were OK, the young lady who took our order was polite other than that the gentleman who seemed to be Head of House for the afternoon was so ignorant, not even a hello on arrival or a goodbye. Not my loss, maybe not theirs either but you have a lot of work to do because you will end up like a lot of the local pubs, CLOSED. Make changes whilst you can, this is a beautiful location but do not make that mistake by taking advantage of your customers and not giving them what they pay for, quality food and service, we are paying a high price to eat and drink in your establishment.
We visited this pub with family. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was decent but the food took some time to come out. They offer a good range of beers on tap. The pub can get busy as it's in a prime location so make sure you book if you really want a table. There are plenty of tables outside for extra space. The menu was a bit strange as it was a massive wooden thing, I'd ditch these in favour of a more simple one. The food was excellent value for money. I had a chicken, ham and leek pie. It was really tasty, my partner had the dirty burger which was superb. The pizza my mum had was so big she took some of it home as it was so tasty. Children's menu was good and my daughter loved the mac and cheese. Overall these were great portions and decent prices. I'd say this is a good pub and good value for money. We were so full we couldn't even contemplate the desert menu. Well worth the visit.
My partner and I got a bit lost, popped in for something to eat, and were really happy with our meals. We ordered a lamb roast dinner and the steak and ale pie. Everything was fresh, the pie was homemade and it was all nice and hot and presented well. The staff were nice and friendly and the venue was clean. We would recommend this venue to others, and we will definitely be visiting again in the future.
Tasty pie, decent portions, great pizza! Good selection of beer!Food: 4/5
This is not the lovely country pub that I remember, having visited so many times throughout at least 30 years. The atmosphere has completely changed, it’s more like a managed retail restaurant. Gone are the cosy corners, comfy armchairs and traditional log fire to be replaced by more tables. Service was not the best but on the plus side the food was good.
