The Wallace Collection is a hidden gem in London, offering an exquisite display of art, furniture, and armor housed in a stunning historic mansion. The collection is beautifully curated, featuring masterpieces by artists such as Titian, Rembrandt, and Velázquez, alongside intricate French furniture and impressive displays of medieval and Renaissance armor. The setting, Hertford House, adds to the experience with its elegant rooms and peaceful ambiance. Admission is free, making it a perfect spot for art lovers to explore at their own pace. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in fine art and history, offering a quiet and enriching escape in the heart of the city.
The Wallace Collection is a true treasure in the heart of London, offering an extraordinary blend of art, history, and elegance. Tucked away in a beautiful historic townhouse, this museum houses an exquisite collection of fine art, furniture, arms, and armor, all displayed in a setting that feels both intimate and grand. One of the standout features of the Wallace Collection is its remarkable assortment of 18th-century French paintings and decorative arts, which are among the finest in the world. It’s a must visit place. Definitely better than other hyped museums.
This Art Gallery is incredible, with a great many paintings and art on display. I particularly enjoyed the room with some dozen paintings of Venice scenes, many of which from the great painter Canaletto. The collection of armory and arms is also impressive. So much to see that one visit will never be enough. Since the entrance is free of charge, we will be back.
Beautiful collection and free admission. The collection is displayed beautifully and the property itself is stunning. Had some afternoon tea in the cafe - the ‘Cream Tea’ option which was tasty. There is a restaurant also. Photos are permitted but no filming.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This was my first visit to the Wallace collection and I didn’t know much about it beforehand. I was greeted by some very nice staff who asked me to put my large rucksack in one of their free lockers. On this visit, I saw collections of ceramics, paintings and sculptures, as well as lots of armour. It was a fascinating visit and I’ll be going back.
I recently visited The Wallace Collection in London and was very impressed. The museum has an amazing mix of art, including paintings, furniture, and armor. An interesting fact is that the museum’s collection includes one of the finest selections of 18th-century French art in the world. The beautiful setting and variety of exhibits make it a must-visit for art lovers. Highly recommended!
The Wallace Collection is lovely and has a beautiful collection of some Rococo art, but their audio guide and painting placards could use some help. It does feel a bit overwhelming, so I can't imagine what it must have felt like when people were actually living in the house. Since it is such an old house, the wifi is spotty, which does not make for a great audio tour. Because the collection is so expansive there're only a few things that have an audio explanation. And for me, it wasn't the items that I would have liked to hear more about. The staff are lovely and very knowledgeable so the overall experience was very nice.
A gobsmacking collection of art, furniture, clocks, armour and finery. Its is set over two floors and is free admission. There is a lovely cafe in the centre and many people having picnics on the lawns in front. A superb venue with a world class collection.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I visited the exhibit of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and it was spectacular. The museum is very peaceful inspite of being located in a busy area. The collection is intriguing and audio guide is very thorough. Staff is very polite and on a weekday it wasn’t very busy. Must visit to appreciate the empire of the biggest Sikh emperor. I bought tickets at the door and it was easy to pay by tapping, no line up at all.
A wonderful free to visit museum easily accessible by metro. Not crowded at all, photos allowed, but no selfie sticks. Lots of 18th century pictures, porcelain and furniture plus a huge armory. The painting Laughing Cavalier is on tour and is absent. Cafe on premises.
