Was highly recommended by many people, so decided to bring a friend and try it out. Great service and plenty of parking for customers, lovely atmosphere and attention to detail throughout with whole restaurant. I got the chicken in the bucket, large portion and delicious! my friend wasn't 100% on his village burger but still ate it all, after tells me he doesn't like mushrooms. Overall lovely evening. would recommend to anyone who hasn't been before! :
I’ve visited the village maid a few times now and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Both are always to a very good standard. There is a good choice of dishes to choose from, feels like there is something for everyone. I was amazed by the service I received today, I called to make a reservation for lunch, as I wanted to take my dog along with me. It’s great that the Village Maid is dog friendly respectfully dogs are allowed in the bar area but not the main restaurant, however this really doesn’t feel like a restriction, you still have your own space, table and you’re not out the way of the atmosphere. On arrival I was greeted by the very friendly staff and taken to my table, and there was already a bowl of water and a plate of treats for my furry friend, it’s great to know that he really was welcome and made a great impression to me as a dog owner.
Wiled away a very pleasant 3 hours on Saturday after exploring Lound Lakes NR with the dogs. Couldn’t fault the food and prices were very reasonable for the quality. Will definitely be returning
The food was well presented and very tasty. Quality ingredients and large portions. I couldn't manage a dessert as I was full up. I would definitely go again. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Love this place had the most amazing meal here last week. And the fellas thankful for the maid burger making a comeback! Also love sitting outside here in the summer it's beautiful. Cannot fault this place one bit!
Only called in for a pint on the way home from Lowestoft to gorleston, nice comfortable couch to sit at, served a refreshing pint of Aspels cider by Daryl who was the perfect host and made us feel welcome. While we were there a regular called in along with their dog, who was treated with some doggie treat which was a nice touch.Had a look at the menu and will definitely be calling back some time to sample what looked like a nice offering. The village pond along with ducks is opposite and just adds to the ambiance of the Village Maid.
Excellent food, service and venue. Everything is exceptionally well done, from the ingredients, to the cooking, to the range and quality of drinks. We usually opt for the fish and chips, after recommendations from friends, but everything we have had has been wonderful. The fish and chips are well worth the visit alone, but there is a good range of dishes on the menu, including at least 2 fully vegan ones. I took my mum there earlier in the week and she's already planning to go back soon. You can't book the outdoor tables, but we've always managed to get one, and it's really calm and relaxing sitting out in the country. The inside is lovely too, however. Generous portions of top quality food, served by friendly staff attentive but not overbearing - a lovely place to visit. Apologies that my photo doesn't do the food justice!
Lovely staff, good beer, unremarkable food, poor wine. After reading so many 5 star reviews, we were disappointed with the cooking and ingredient quality. My partner seemed to pick slightly better dishes, and enjoyed the king prawn chowder. However, the smoked duck was tough, the cauliflower steak floppy, and the pork fillet soft and tender but bland. From the reviews, the prices, and because the menu sounded well thought out - I expected better.
My friend and I had ordered our lunch... suddenly a member of the staff were offering us a free drink because our meal was taking longer than normal. TBH we hadn't noticed as we were chatting... but how wonderful was that... don't get service like that very often, if ever, in fact without complaining. Thank you so much! The food was also really very lovely.
Quite nice, but we had a long wait for our meal, approximately 40 minutes, I had slow roasted belly pork which was a bit tough to chew and Swallow. My husband had pie and chips which he was happy with.
