Was able to get some food at 9pm on a Thursday evening when other places in the town had already stopped serving food much earlier. Although some dishes were out of stock steaks, the festive menu was on, so I went with the chicken and stuffing burger. Pigs in blankets were unavailable, so I asked for a normal sausage instead which they were happy to provide.
Been here a few times over the years, and have never had a disappointing experience. Service always great and quick. Food always to standard "Spoons" quality which I think is exceptional for the price. plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs. Great location and easy to find/ get to.
The food was alright. I came around 11:00am and thought about having an early lunch with a friend but on their app you're only able to order from the breakfast menu. Then it took us forever to figure out how to order a soda with our meal which turns out to be in their alcoholic drink menu which I found really weird. But overall a nice lil place to sit down grab some food.
So we found ourselves in Lowestoft on Tuesday and came across a Wetherspoons.. How could we resist 'Tuesday Steak Club'.. Wetherspoons is generally really good value for money. So we opted for the 5oz Gammon with Egg, Mushroom, Peas and Jacket Potato. Surprised to find the price here higher than other seaside towns but when you also include a Bumbu Rum and Pepsi Max how can you go wrong. So first impressions, very clean, large and bright inside.. we headed straight upstairs and noticed the lift available for customers. The upstairs was just as good. The toilets were located upstairs and again very clean and pleasant. The staff were very helpful, friendly and tentative. All good so far.. the food, so this is the reason for only 4*.. The Gammon was rather grisly and a little watery, unsure whether it would have benefited from being cooked a little bit more? The Jacket and Mushroom was also watery. Not the best Steak Club meal but certainly not the worst we have had. I would question whether Wetherspoons has recently changed supplier/products or potentially buying slightly lower grade food due to the issues with our economy? Overall, we would certainly eat here again if we found ourselves in Lowestoft.
Really nice place with great food, bit crowded but that's to be expected on a Saturday night, best thing about weather spoons is if you get the app you don't have to talk to anyone :
Wow. £1.99 for breakfast. 11am Saturday morning busy but food and drink still served at a reasonable time. The place was clean and the food was great, hot and fresh. One of the better wetherspoons I've been to.
Joseph Conrad is kept very clean. It has friendly staff and has a LOT of seating areas. There are 2 floors, if looking for a quieter place to sit, I would choose upstairs. In the summer there is plenty of outside seating as well. There are clean public toilets upstairs and wheelchair accessible floors with a lift to upstairs. Plenty of food and drink to choose and can use the app on your phone to order to your table of you don't fancy going to the bar. Suitable for all ages. Easy location in town. No parking, which is a bit of an issue but fully accessible from the Train Station opposite. There are TVs inside and a few slot machines. Food is nice and drinks are served in clean glasses I had 1 instance where the glass had a lipstick mark on it still and it was instantly changed and the staff member apologised profusely. Breakfast is served here as well as brunch and dinner. Plus desserts. All in all, I would recommend and go back again.
Large house spread over 2 floors with friendly staff and usual broad range of food and drink. Disapointed the lift is not functioning so can't go upstairs to look around. Disabled toilet is not great either.
They have gotten more expensive recently understandable. However, that makes it harder to justify their average food quality and lack of atmosphere. The best thing to be said about them is the value of the refillable hot drinks. Notably, there were no issues with the two staff members I interacted with. Very friendly and helpful.
Good easy family friendly pub with cheap food and drink and lots of seating. Having said that the seats can very quickly be taken up at peak times. Ordering on the app is a lifesaver but drink definitely tend to come quicker if ordered at the bar.
