I have had great cocktails in the main pub before, so chose to hold a birthday party in the function room, and the whole process was smooth with lots of help and flexibility from the friendly staff. Big thanks to Miho for looking after us all evening and keeping the drinks flowing, and Bob for overseeing the whole event and karaoke. The stage and karaoke was a big bonus for our event, and the private room with its own toilets is a great set up for any function. Also it is a perfect location for people travelling from different parts of the country, and right next to the train station. All my guests told me they had a great evening, we had a great time, and we are very pleased we chose to throw the party here.
Excellent selection of nuts served with a smile. Matthew Rosario Doyle and Marc Ley absolutely sorted me out.Food: 5/5
Went for a gig, was upstairs in the venue. It's not a massive space so it gets hot when packed full of bodies. The stage is raised so you get a good view from the very back by the soundboard.Atmosphere: 5/5
Visited The Victoria again for the first time in a good few years. If I could give more stars, I would! Bob and the team were fantastic; welcoming, attentive and friendly. Great choice of beers. Clean and well run, The Victoria is a quirky place with excellent hosts who know how to do all the right things right. Perfectly located for a drink or two prior to visiting The Alex for a show, too.
Not been in this pub for 40 years so called in to see what it's like now! Friendly staff comfortable atmosphere late afternoon. Two real ales on, the usual lagers and ciders available at city centre prices. Can imagine very busy in evenings and probably noisy, but that's expected in evenings! Real Ale Beers on special offer Tuesdays.
A good old fashion style pub, how pubs used to be and hard to come across these days. Great atmosphere and friendly staff Definitely worth a few drinks in there although you'll probably end up stopping there the night
Such a lovely environment! Great drink selection and even greater recommendations from Bob. Thank you for a lovely experience before watching my friend play in his band!Service: 5/5
The bar men are so pretty and friendly and want to smash the patriarchy. Bob is especially handsome. Highly recommend! Good margaritas!Food: 5/5
How the great have fallen. I haven’t been here in a few years since Island Bar shut. I was so shocked by the level of service or lack of. The place smelt like damp and musk and was nearly empty. We sat down opposite the second bar where the ales were and my friend got served but the girl on the bar light coloured hair and glasses didn’t take an order from me and just turned around with her back to us on her phone in the middle cupboard. I waited and waited, another girl walked past and served someone on another bar. She then went and got her coat and walked off. There was a man fiddling with the till on the other bar and I still didn’t get served so I went to the small bar and asked the girl who ignored me earlier where I can get served. She said someone will serve me. The man turned around and said he’d be with me in a moment which he did and was the first person there to show any sort of service even if he was just asking questions like from a book. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a bar with such awful service and miserable people. The vic used to be a fun and friendly place, such a shame. Bitter n twisted what the hell happened ??
One of my favourite pubs in Birmingham, a perfect escape from the commercialised sense you get in most other centre pubs. The quiz is great, but you have to be quick! The bar staff are lovely too. A great hidden gem we visit often.Service: 5/5
