A great little spot for a weekend away - the location was ideal just next to the ferry on the promenade. The room was fine, with a super view of the sea - they did not clean the rooms due to an ongoing COVID measure which seemed odd, but for a weekend this was fine. The staff at breakfast were really lovely particularly, and the bar staff helped take up our luggage note there are three flights of stairs so not a hotel for those with mobility issues. Overall would recommend for location, breakfast and view!
I would say this place is retro, but it's original and not putting on airs... Victoria is classic. The gentleman working daytime reception is very deliberate and has done what he does probably a thousand times. The breakfast comes with the room and it's in a fun little restaurant area just off reception. I enjoyed it, but those looking for cutting edge amenities won't. But then again, it would be difficult to find that type of thing on the island.
Charming Stay with Stunning Views at Victoria HotelnnThe Victoria Hotel on the Isle of Bute offers a prime location with its breathtaking marina and ocean views, especially from the lounge dining area where you can truly appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. Our room was on the 2nd floor; do note that the hotel does not have a lift, which wasn't a problem for us but might be worth considering for those with mobility issues.nnAs charming as it is, being an old wooden structure, the hotel has its quirks, such as the persistent squeak of the floorboards, which can be particularly noticeable at night. However, the hosts more than make up for any minor inconveniences with their warm hospitality and eagerness to please.nnWhile the exterior could benefit from a fresh coat of paint, the interior is well maintained, providing a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Overall, the Victoria Hotel provides a wonderful base to enjoy the stunning locale, and despite a few niggles, it's a place I'd recommend for its character and exceptional location.
We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel.nRooms are well equipped, with good light and spacious enough for a good stay. The location is amazing and the service was very amenable.nHighly recommended if visiting isle of Bute.
Hotel was fine for a night. Check in was a bit awkward, as was breakfast in the morning. Place is old fashioned but the room was really cute and I loved the view out of the window! Shower didn’t drain very well, room lock was weird, bed was possibly one of the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept in or tried to at a hotel, and room was freezing cold all night even with the radiator on full blast as it was clearly only single glazing ! People were nice, and breakfast food-wise was at least decent. No hotel parking but street parking was super quiet at this time of year
