Myself and a group of friends stayed here for a few days and it was beautiful. It was an incredible location with amazing views. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were very spacious. There was a lovely hot tub in the garden. The owners were great to communicate with whenever we had any questions. I’d definitely stay here again!
Perfectly situated, with an amazing view. There was plenty of space for our whole party. Check-in was simple, and the owners were in contact throughout the process; they provided clear instruction for arrival and departure, and also checked in by phone to make sure all was well. We had a member of our party with mobility issues so the ground flour bedrooms are a huge benefit. This house is like a TARDIS! The kitchen is really well equipped, with everything you need to make your stay as easy as possible. Our dogs loved the great space on the ground floor too. Bring your costumes and make use of the hot tub area if you get the weather, we didn't but my daughter still used the tub. We do hope to return when the weather is a little kinder, typically it was beautiful on our last day! Rooms: Most of the rooms are ensuite. They are also well soundproofed.
Adam was a great host. He supplied all the appropriate information a few days in advance. We knew everything we needed to know when we arrived. The house was spotlessly clean and well appointed with everything we needed. There was a problem with water pressure at the boiler - I texted him and Adam replied almost immediately and was willing to send out a plumber Easter weekend! but I sorted it myself with his guidance. P.S. The photos do not give an accurate impression it is much nicer than it looks online. A great weekend was had with 10 adults and 8 kids - loads of space.
We stayed in Argyle House for a big family celebration and enjoyed every minute of it! The house is spotlessly clean and has all of the amenities you could ask for! Even a pet corner with everything you need if bringing a pet! The views are also stunning! We spent time in the amazing hot tub and garden area, a favourite with the kids and used the games room for the computer set up! The living area is perfect for getting together in a big group and we played board games and listened to music! We would definitely return, everyone had an amazing time! The hosts are on hand with any questions you have and clearly want to go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay! It was perfect! Walkability: A short walk into town with everything you need!
Highly recommended this house. If you’re with a large group, this house is absolutely perfect. There are gorgeous views and it’s within walking distance to pretty much all the Rothesay attractions. We rented this house for a little family holiday and it was absolutely perfect. We had 10 adults, 2 teenagers, a toddler and a dog and there was ample room for all of us. The house has a spacious dinning room and kitchen that made making meals easy and really enjoyable I left with major oven envy. There are 2 separate living rooms which meant there was enough room for us all to feel we had our own space when we needed it. Plus, one of the living rooms has PlayStation which was a big hit for the teenagers. We all made use of the spacious and lovely garden with a jacuzzi. The majority of the rooms are en suite. Which is a massive plus when everyone is trying to get ready at once. Only one of the rooms has a king sized bed, the rest are double and a few single beds. It’s clear that this house has been in need of some TLC. It’s not perfect and there are some areas that still need some work. For example, some of the showers are poor. And the rooms on the top floor of the house are quite cold with a lot wind getting through round the windows and vents. One of our party had to swap rooms during our stay as it was so cold. I have no doubt the owners will continue to update and improve this house. We loved our week here. I’ve already recommended it to a friend. And we’re planning on going back next year. Can’t really give higher praise than that.
There were 17 of us and 4 dogs. The house was warm and cosy, it was spotlessly clean. The bedrooms were lovely, hotel quality beds. The hot tub was super, all ready to jump in as soon as we arrived! Various spaces to relax in to chat, watch sport or a film, or play family games. The location is great, close to everything, and just a mile or from the start of The West Island Way which saw some decent ascent over rolling hills and marvelous views. I woukd definitely come back to this lovely house!
Just spent the weekend at Argyle House and the house met all our expectations. Very clean and modern. Great facilities. Location was perfect and the views were stunning. Would highly recommend. Thank you
Argyle House is a gem of a place! Deceptive from the outside as its massive on the inside! It sits right on the see front & has amazing veiws across to the mainland. We were a party of 20, 12 adults & 8 children ages from 5 - 17 celebrating a 50th birthday & there was enough room for everyone to have their own space, the teenagers had their own rooms which they loved as they could chill out whenever they wanted. There are 2 lovely big sitting rooms, the kids took ownership of one while the male adults chilled in the other watching football! The real hub of the house though was the massive dining room the only room big enough to hold all of us at once and the kitchen. The dining room overlooks the harbour & out to the mainland, it is a fabulous view! The kitchen has everything you could possibly need & there's a massive range cooker more than capable of catering for the 20 of us. Most rooms are ensuite which was a real bonus. Fantastic big garden for the kids & dogs to runaround in complemented by a hot tub sited in a very tasteful gazebo to protect you from the elements although we were very lucky as the sun shone all weekend. The owner was very welcoming, contacting us on day one, to check in with us to make sure we were happy with everything & again after check out which is a lovely touch. The neighbours and the people on the island of Bute were so friendly too, which really helped us all to feel welcome & part of the community for the short time we were there! All in all a lovely house in a lovely location, I would definitely recommend it for a large group. Rooms: Clean, tidy, tastefully decorated with a Scottish theme, beds comfy. Nearby activities: OMG where to start? The island is beautiful! Rothesay had a market on the Saturday selling street food & refreshments as well as local goods. There's the remnants of an old castle & it's history in the centre of the town. Whether exploring on foot or in the car there is so much to see & do! Walkability: 10 minute walk from the ferry & town centre. A small beach right across the road! Food & drinks: We took all our food, there is a large fridge freezer in the kitchen & separate fridge & freezer in the utility area so plenty of room for food & drink! We ate at the Black Bull one day and the food & service were excellent.
We stayed here as a family group of 20 ranging from age 86 down to 6. Argyll house is ideal for a large family. The location is ideal looking right across the water, a couple mins drive from ferry and a short 10min walk into the cente of Rothesay. The house was spotless and was equipped with everything you could possibly need. There is a large dining room and 2 separate living rooms one with amazing views and one which is set up with Netflix and a PlayStation which my grandchildren loved. There is also a hot tub which although we didnt get to use is a nice additional touch. The host Adam was excellent and always available for any queries. When we had a small issue with one of the toilets he had contacted a plumber and it had been fixed within the hour. I would highly recommend Argyle House for a group holiday. Rooms: Rooms were well appointed and spotless. Walkability: A short 10 mins walk to the town centre but there is also a bus stop right outside front door for the less able.
Lovely house suitable for large multigenerational group . Perfectly situated for the town and to capture stunning views . The house had everything we needed - great communication before and throughout. We would definitely returnRooms: 5/5
