What an amazing country pub for Sunday lunch, the setting is picturesque driving through Pett, ample parking, and a beautiful entrance to the bar with an open fire at the bar. The dining area has lovely low ceilings mind your head, there's a great food selection, the welcome is warm, the service friendly and attentive, and the vegetarian option worthy for a roast beats most other places offering. Price point is just right. Overall, we were seriously impressed and would come back in a heartbeat if we were in the area. Perfect way to celebrate a birthday. We were a Couple dining.
A great village country pub with welcoming and friendly staff, lovely atmosphere with an open fire, dog friendly area and an excellent menu with hearty pub fare but with a range of delicious specials too. We went for dinner and managed three very generous courses and went back for lunch a few days later. Very impressed with the team and food. Would highly recommend.
“Homemade burger” the nearest comparison is an over cooked frozen birdseye burger. Not to be rude but that burger meat needs to be changed immediately. Lovely pub in a good location but that meat has me driving home in silence.
Came for Sunday Lunch. Although the staff were very friendly and helpful the food was very disappointing. Yorkshire puddings had no taste, roast potatoes were anything but roasted, mixed vegetables overcooked and soggy, cauliflower cheese hard and not enough sauce. Meat and gravy nothing outstanding. Beautiful setting of the pub does not compensate for disappointing food
Lovely pub, pretty setting, friendly staff and great food at reasonable prices. Nice specials board also and options for gluten free. Would return!Service: 5/5
we have recently discovered this beautiful pub & restaurant, and have been blown away by the service and the food. the staff are the friendliest we have experienced, always so welcoming.. and the food is amazing, truly brilliant we plan to return regularly Thank you for the experience you provide x
Visited twice for evening meals as staying nearby, friendly and professional, traditional cosy pub with hearty pub food. Enjoyed great rib eye steaks and can see staff really make the effort. Well done guys.Service: 5/5
Had a brilliant overnight stay on our walk. Staff could not be more Friendly or helpful- they let us have breakfast early as we needed to get on. Atmosphere in the bar in the evening was great- felt part of the local Community. The 16th Century inn is full of atmosphere- plenty of beams and nooks and crannies. Our room was beautiful, well equipped and clean. Really appreciated fresh milk in the fridge for tea and coffee. In a beautiful part of the world- we will be back in the bluebell season! Rooms: Lovely light room with team and coffee and fresh milk in a fridge. Bed comfortable. Large sofa to sit on. Good sized flat screen TV. Toiletries in bathroom. Good shower. Really enjoyed being in this room Oak Room Walkability: We walked here from Rye which we enjoyed. The hill up to Pett challenged us but we made it! Food & drinks: We enjoyed our dinner and the chef was very ready to accommodate my dietary needs which are a bit unusual.
Tasty reasonably priced food. Cask ale in fair condition. Friendly service. Rather smokey atmosphere- problem with the open fire. Will certainly go back when next visiting Hastings area.Service: 4/5
We were recommended this pub by our hosts, and we would be more than happy to pass on our recommendations, too. There is plenty of parking to the side and rear of the pub. The service was excellent, very attentive and friendly staff throughout our meal. We had ham hock crockets with homemade piccalilli for starters, and the mains were sea bass and rib eye steak, all cooked to perfection and very generous portions, and good value for money.
