If I could give more stars I would. The establishment is like it is straight out of a fairy tale. The garden is fantastic and so are the rooms. All of the details are being thought thoroughly . But it’s the owners that will impress you the most. They love what they do and they are so hospitable. Thank you, Kelly and Alex, for a wonderful stay.
The Strand House is a wonderful place to stay. Decorated with so much love and taste, it makes you feel as cosy as if you were in your own holiday home. Kelly and Alex are very warm-hearted and make your stay a wonderful one. The breakfast delights everyone. You couldn't choose a nicer place to stay in Rye.Rooms: 5/5
My husband and I had a wonderful one night stay on Good Friday at this beautiful little Boutique Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, our room and en suite were tastefully furnished esp as I love and work with interiors and spotlessly clean with a stunning view onto fields and rabbits! We were staying with our 2 dogs who were each given a sausage for breakfast ;- My daughter also joined us at the last minute and again this was no problem. Hugh, the owner, was delightful.
A large and attractive B&B with a very well maintained garden. The room was nicely appointed and the bed comfy, and breakfast was also good. We were pleased to see decent vegetarian and vegan options on the breakfast menu, and the staff at breakfast were really attentive and friendly. Our dog came along too for a small supplement which we appreciated. The nearby canal made for an easy dog walk. Our room was very expensive, and while it was well presented, ultimately we didn't feel it was quite worth the price tag. We were let down by a couple of points of poor service. The B&B offers afternoon tea, and we'd requested this by email for our arrival. We didn't receive a response and I guess our email hadn't been read as there was nothing available. Also, we had a small problem with the housekeeping and when we reported this to the owner, we found him dismissive. The issue was easily rectified by other staff the following morning. If this sort of detail could be addressed, this would be a wonderful B&B.
Historic English guest house and a wonderful place to stay. Just back from a two day stay. The owners were so helpful and willing to make time to share details of the local area. Room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were superb. Would highly recommend.
The hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation, despite having thin walls, was charming and well situated. Lovely breakfast capped off our stay, and we felt we got great value for money.
The b&b itself is very beautiful, the house is wonderful and the location is fine. We were let down upon arrival, as we had booked via Tripadvisor, clearly stating that our children were 3 and 6 so no tiny baby, and it returned the lookout room at strand house. Upon arrival, our room turned out to only have a small double and one single, with no extra floor space or extra cot bed for our second child. This would not have bothered us overmuch, but the host seemed fairly uninterested in the muckup it seems to me they should be clear with Tripadvisor on the actual logistics of sleeping possibilities and did not offer any kind of help a cot, another room, a sleeping bag, extra covers.... In the end our eldest slept on the floor in front of the door. Not ideal, especially as the room was fairly expensive all things considered... Otherwise, absolutely lovely house, very charming, great breakfast best we had during our two week hols! , Kind and helpful house staff, a very cosy lounge with an honesty bar. So basically, great bnb, but don't trust internet bookers, or clear communications betweem them and b&b hosts. Best to always call the b&b first to check logistics.
Lovely old world charm, beds very comfortable good hot showers on suites in all rooms hostess very helpful & thoughtful the village of Winchelsea is charming very old well kept. Spike Millagan buried in the Church yard, I told you I was I'll on his tomb stone but unfortunately we did not find it. Well worth a visit even if not staying near.
Amazing house with lots of history. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really tasty with a great range of choices. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely like to go back.
Had a very nice couple of days stay here, with our little dog. The room we had was very pleasant which had a little private outside patio with table and chairs and views over a field with sheep and bunnies. Staff are very accomodating and welcoming too.
