The Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne Minster, Dorset, was built in Wimborne Minster in 1936 as a theatre and cinema. It features a wide variety of Art Deco features, including original chrome and Bakelite door handles.Threatened with demolition in 1979 for a road-building scheme that was later abandoned, the theatre fell into disrepair and closed in April 1980. After lengthy campaigning, volunteers restored the theatre throughout 1993, and the theatre reopened to the public in November of that year.<ref name = about/ Over the last Ten Years the Theatre has grown into a Thriving Live music Venue. It has had many Acts play such as Wishbone Ash Acker Bilk and Many others. American Blues Artist Larry Garner recorded a live album in October 2009. Preheps the Biggest Name that the Tivoli has attrated is Charlie Watts he plays with a group under the Name the ABC And D of Boogie Woggie. Many Comedians also use the Venue as a Warm up Lee Evans one of the most notable. Al Murry is a regular and Eddie Izard has also done a show there. The theatre also serves as the venue for the Wimborne Musical Theatre, as well as the Wimborne Drama, who stage three productions each year.
