This is a true Austrian experience. The menu has all the delicacies that come in mind when you think of Austrian cuisine. There’re wursts cooked to perfection, schnitzels as you would expect them to be not too oily and also well cooked. The beer is draft from Austria: Stiegl which some call the best. The atmosphere is typical Austrian Bierkeller style. Once you go downstairs it’s as if you move across the border : The show you get with the cowbells, the saxophone, the org and singing is a very genuine and fun experience. I would suggest booking a table for big groups and if you’re are a party of 2 you may still find a table.
An impossible to describe, psychedelic Tyrollean cellar experience. Craving a Gulasch with Spätzle we ended up in something which reminded us of an apres-ski experience in the middle of Notting Hill. Mostly big groups, loud music which was accompanied by the 85 years old owner singing, playing the keyboard, clarinet, sax or the cow bells. Everyone seemed to have such a good time. Thankfully it was not our first date please don’t do that! so we just enjoyed the show and the surprisingly good food. A fun, anarchic oasis of chaos in a too often clinical city - go before it’s gone.
Loved this brilliantly bizarre experience. An eccentric but loveable old owner of the establishment plays traditional Austrian music, Sound of Music classics and weirdly World War One British folk tunes, often on Austrian cow bells, whilst you eat excellent classic Austrian dishes of hearty proprtions. It’s weird but fun and creates a great atmosphere whilst the food is unquestionably great. The owner has run this place for about 50 years and it feels like that in a quaint way.
Chaotic bar, but worth a visit, especially if you’re looking for a lively, fun drunk night. There are regulars of the bar that are very friendly and entertaining to talk to. Be prepared for lots of jokes, beer spillage, and drunk dancing.
A group of us went on Friday night. It was so much fun, the food was great and the staff were so lovely. We all had the best time. The bells, yodelling and music were all fantastic and make this place so special. I have been coming here for years. Other first timers in our party will also definitely be returning.Food: 5/5
Delicious authentic Austrian food and wine. Service was great. And the multi-talented owner offered the entertainment with his Austrian music. He plays the piano, saxophone, accordion, even cow bells!Food: 5/5
Amazing Austrian restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. We went in December and had the three course set menu - the bratwurst, turkey schnitzel and apple strudel were so good. The live music was really fun and the boot of beer was insane. Highly recommend this place for a brilliant evening!Food: 5/5
Just finished a delightful dinner at The Tiroler Hut with my kids and husband visiting from the US. The service was excellent at this little pocket of Austria in London. Our food was delicious, and we enjoyed each of the dishes, especially the sausages and roasted potatoes. Capping it off with the bells, accordion, and singalong was a real joy! Kid-friendliness: My 11yo really loved the food especially pretzel!.
If you are in the Portobello Road/Notting Hill area and you want to experience something truly unique, check out Tiroler Hut Like a falcon, this almost 60 year old institution rose from the ashes after a devastating fire and flood. Trust me, you won’t regret visiting this Bavarian Gem. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is absolutely charming. The 85 owner serenades his patrons while playing various instruments in lederhosen. He also takes requests. Also great for stag and does, hen nights, and family fun nights. Vegetarian options: Kasespatzle is our go to! So delicious and cheesy. Kid-friendliness: It’s interactive and fun.
German food restaurant with live music, owner is very nice, food is tastyFood: 5/5
