I had an early dinner here with a friend in early May 2024. We were both delighted with the restaurant. We had a warm welcome and shown to a nice table even though we didn’t have a reservation. The food was tasty and nicely presented with attention to detail. The interior of the restaurant has a real old Viennese feel to it. We had the salmon starter and pollock main with the apple strudel for dessert and coffees. It’s a premium experience so I would go as a treat for special occasions.
went there for the schnitzel, was average. service was great, but food was really basic. I didn’t expect an innovative restaurant, but at least perfection of the basic Austrian dishes, such as the borscht or schnitzel. unfortunately, none of the dishes we ordered was perfectly executed. place itself is nice with great atmosphere and service was great.
Wonderful restaurant. What a pleasant surprise. Decor is enveloping and immersive. Service polite, reserved and prompt. Food is of the highest standard and reminiscent of my trips to Austria and Germany. Thank you Fischer’s we had a fabulous evening here with friends who were equally impressed. Top marks.Food: 5/5
Always always a pleasure to eat here and enjoy being looked after my the nicest, kindest staff. A big thank you to ANTHONY, this guys knows all the menu and the cocktails, is always cheerful and made my American visitors feel really welcome. He is a great credit to this beloved restaurant :Food: 5/5
Excellent service and great atmosphere. They're well known for their schnitzel and it doesn't disappoint, but other items felt a bit underwhelming. It was a great experience nonetheless, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try a taste of Austria.
Beautiful restaurant with great service without a hint of attitude, even without a reservation. The food was delicious and expertly prepared. While I highly recommend the restaurant overall, I felt the £38 price point for the wiener regular with an egg was slightly excessiveFood: 5/5
This had been recommended to us by friends who learned of my husband's love of Schnitzels! We arrived a little early for our booking and were sat at a lovely corner table with a great view of the whole restaurant. The decor is kitsch and cute, but not for those offended by hunting trophies! We we brought a basket of rye breads with whipped paprika butter. The breads were delicious but we were mindful of the next course so we're very restrained! For drinks, I had a Grapefruit Fizz mocktail and hubby had a low alcohol pear drink.... I've forgotten the name, but something to do with a monk! Mains obviously were Schnitzels, we both went for veal. I had the small and hubby the regular and we opted for one with "jus" gravy and one with ligonberry sauce. We both added the Holstein option fried egg, capers and anchovies. Spatzle noodles, carrots and pickled cucumber were our sides. The food arrived quickly and was very nicely presented. Schnitzels were thin, crispy and golden, just as they should be. Personally I found the noodles a little bland I guess noodles generally are!!, but hubby assured me they were great. I enjoyed the pickled cucumber which was tangy and crunchy. The carrots were cooked with hazelnuts and made a tasty side. I found the egg / caper / anchovy extra rather distracting from the veal so shoved that over to hubby's plate who was very happy with that! The jus was so full of flavour: rich and creamy whilst the ligonberry sauce added a pleasant sharpness. No puddings as just too full, but they looked amazing... Next time! Our bill came to £131, so definitely not a cheap eat. The restaurant charges a cover charge per person and 15% service charge. Really good meal and a nice treat.
Excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Chicken schnitzel tasty but a bit dry, the delicious rich gravy saved it though. Great sauerkraut here.Food: 4/5
Lovely meal with polite service. Schnitzel was an absolute delight. Kaiserschmarrn a little over-caramelised or would have been the full five stars all around. Really lovely place in which to eat.
I took my parents to Fischers on a Monday, late January afternoon, to mark a special occasion, and it really was fantastic. The food was really well balanced. The only criticism would be the schnitzel was a tiny bit dry. But all the sides and accompaniment’s were excellent. The starters pretty good. Desert was fantastic don’t normally say that I had trifle. The restaurant is beautiful, staff are lovely. I definitely left wanting to try more of the food. So planning a trip back for duck and sausages. Oh and parents said ‘it was the most they had enjoyed somewhere for a really long time’.
