Story

The Three Tuns the oldest pub in Sutton Coldfield dating back to the early 16th Century. With past guests such as Shakespeare and Cromwell and reputably haunted by the ‘Royalist Drummer Boy’ who died during the Civil War after being held in the stocks and then later locked in the pub's cellar.

Refurbished and extended, with an area for private functions and meetings the Three Tuns offers a great atmosphere with an excellent choice of food and drink.

Food, Guinness, and staff were absolutely stunning! I didn't catch the barmans name, but he was a gem, really friendly and so kind. In an unfamiliar town away for work, I find a warm reception so essential and that's 100% what I got here thanks to the team, and even the punters, for making me feel welcome away from home. It would even be worth making the five hour trip to come back
Lovely pub with loads of character . Amazing staff 5* . Great food and a lovely atmosphere. We really enjoyed our time here .Food: 5/5
We went here on good Friday and had such a lovely night, everythng was great! The menu has so many options, the food was fantastic, and the service was perfect! All the servers were so happy and polite. I'm sorry I didn't get the name of our waiter, he was young with blondish hair. But he was really helpful. Prior to our visit we were saying how eating out is not really worth it anymore, expensive not usually that good of food or service but this place absolutely proved us wrong. We have already booked to go back for the next birthday in July absolutely recommend this place!
The Three Tuns is a mixed bag. The look and the decor inside is very nice. And the atmosphere the night I went in, when an open mic night was occurring, very good. The one thing that ruined my experience was the manner in which I was served at the bar. A blonde lady, possible called Beryl, or Sharon, or Irene, gave me a look as if to say, WHAT DO YOU WANT ? No greeting, no Yes please, not even a What can I get cha mush ! ? Nowt. Nunk. Not a sausage ! Just a look in my direction and a miserable face. Then when she'd poured my drink she said £2.70. No please and not a thank you when handing me my change ? It's probably only a very small thing, and perhaps would not matter to a lot of people, but I feel manners cost nothing. And in a job where you are serving the public, a cheerful demeanor is an asset. When I worked in retail, many decades ago, my customer service skills were top notch and unparalleled. Customer's would ask where I was, if it were my day off or having my lunch break. I was a credit to the small business emporium, and a jewel in the crown of The British Empire and all her colonies ! !! ?? It definitely wasn't me that started the fire. Billy Joel can testify to that.
Despite frequenting this pub for many years to see bands I only ate there for the first time yesterday. Food was excellent fresh and really tasty and reasonably priced. Lots of vege options so will certainly be going back again. Great local pub. Friendly atmosphere and good service. Just seen a band called Seventh Son. They were the best live band ever!!! Played great covers. Never heard a band play The Stone Roses before!!! Cool beans!!!
Out of all the pubs in the midlands, this is the most unfriendly service and poor Guinness I’ve experienced. The Duke is however a great pub in Sutton ColdfieldFood: 1/5
Friendly welcoming staff. Tasty ale and generous plate of nachos Food: 5/5
I brought two Ukrainian friends here to visit a British pub with live music. Rachel who served us was very friendly and helpful, giving them tasters try different beers. They enjoyed their night.Service: 5/5
This pub has a good vibe and would be good to have a drink in. The interior is really nice and bright. The food was really nice and good prices. The mini smoking area was nice and has a cute touch. But this pub seems like the type to more-so drink in. The men’s toilet was gross, with fluids on the floor everywhere and one tap broken, hanging out. No locks on the toilet doors and toilet roll was soaked. Not nice or clean. Service at the bar was a bit slow. Menu’s also came out different from what is advertised on their website. Some menu’s came out with one page and another with 6 pages. Overall, definitely a place more-so to drink, listen to music and watch the sports. For drinking it’s perfect, for eating with a family not so much.
Great food. Steve the chef cooks steaks marvellously. The beer is perfect and a good choice in the guest IPA’s. Service always good and ample safe parking at the rear in the evenings and weekend. Only complaint is that the website colours makes it very hard to read the menu etc. But that’s not a reflection on the pub. Highly recommended !!
