Disappointing Sunday lunch! Small portions and not very warm. We were a party of 7, service was very slow taking orders and bringing food.nAlthough all the food was tasty it was very small. Three of us had chicken and you would expect a whole chicken breast not less than half. We all had three small slices and for each of us, one slice was just bone and gristle part of the wing. The piece at the edge of my plate in pic should never have been on the plate!n2 very small roast potatoes each. I had about 7 small carrot rings and 2 pieces of 1cm chunks of parsnips.nDishes of mash, braised cabbage and cauliflower cheese were served in very small dishes, 3 between 7. Only 2 small cauliflower florets in each dish so not even enough for one each. Mash was enough for one dessert spoon each. Yorkshire pudding and gravy was good.nWe did tell the staff, stressing the lack of chicken in particular, we had no feedback or apology.nWe had dessert as plenty of room left! Crumble was very good.nThis is the 2nd time lately we’ve been in for Sunday lunch and last time was the same. We had been happy to try again but again very disappointed.
Loved everything about it. The quality of the antique furnishings, the regal feel of real worn leather. The quality of the beer, the professionalism and hospitality of the staff, all in the humbling and dramatic towering green hills of the North of the best country on earth. I’ve been around the world, but no - I never slept so peacefully as I did here. So thanks so much to everyone who made my stay so special.
Disorganised chaos ! Sunday lunch with a large group. Despite having chosen food prior to our visit. Some people were waiting an hour for their meal while others had finished eating.nThe beef was good, with large portions of vegetables . I asked for horseradish or mustard and was assured it would arrive. It didn't!nThe service is the issue here. It was grim.
Great evening meal with the husband. A wide range of locally sourced ingredients, cooked with flare and imagination.
Didn't stay, so can't review rooms. As a pub it's great. Spot on beer, bar games.nA really enjoyable pit stop.nTop notch Bar staff too.
