The Redwell Inn is close to and easy to find from Barnard Castle. It has a beautiful outdoor area, and the staff are very friendly. My room was slightly bare with no chair, just a bed and coffee area. The window was open when I arrived and had no locks on it when I closed it. Whilst the hotel was pleasant, the decor wasn't really to my liking feeling slightly dated and run down. Breakfast in the morning was solid standard fare, although they had run out of our first choice of breakfast (Yoghurt and fruit) despite there being quite a small number of guests. The staff once again were kind, polite and helpful. All in all a good place for a standard experience, but there was nothing that made the stay feel exciting or special.

Have stayed here in the past no complaints about the accommodation or the food both really good.wife and myself called in during the week for a drink and lunch .ordered ham sandwich and chips after waiting for over 40mins asked waitress how long food would be she was very apologetic saying new management had taken over food arrived about 15 minutes later .sandwich was a disgrace thrown together and the chips were thin frozen ones from Herons in Barney. Saw him walk in the back with carrier bags .Bill with 2 drinks nearly £17 .used pub regularly when in area not any more .have been told new management from Feb 18 will try again when next in area

Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and great breakfast. Would stay again.

Smelly reception as soon as you enter the building. Don’t take Amex. I was staying in a double room with only one lamp on one of the bed tables and only a little bottle of body soap. There was no hand soap and the paper almost run out of. No phone in the rooms either. And they charge 80£/night for this. Wow.
